We provide an estimate of the score function for rank regression using compactly supported wavelets. This estimate is then used to find a rank-based asymptotically efficient estimator for the slope parameter of a linear model. We also provide a consistent estimator of the asymptotic variance of the rank estimator. For related mixed models, the asymptotic relative efficiency is also discussed

Slope selection, i.e. selecting the slope with rank k among all ( n 2 ) lines induced by a collection P of points, results in a widely used robust estimator for linefitting. In this paper, we demonstrate that it is possible to perform slope selection in expected O(n·log2 n) time using only constant extra space in addition to the space needed for representing the input.

This paper presents the details of a terrain mapping system that has been used to measure median profiles. Details are presented of the system construction, design, and algorithms to process the data. The capability of the system is gauged by performing tests to compensate for vehicle orientation, tests for repeatability, and tests comparing the system with manual measurement. Results demonstra...

The current study proposes a new procedure for separately estimating slope change and level change between two adjacent phases in single-case designs. The procedure eliminates baseline trend from the whole data series before assessing treatment effectiveness. The steps necessary to obtain the estimates are presented in detail, explained, and illustrated. A simulation study is carried out to exp...

We propose in this work an original estimator of the conditional intensity of a markerdependent counting process, with the example of conditional hazard rate in mind. We use model selection methods and provide a non asymptotic risk bound for our estimator with respect to the integrated mean square risk on a compact set. This implies an asymptotic upper bound for the rate of convergence of the e...

This paper proposes a semiparametric maximum likelihood estimator for both the intercept and slope parameters in a binary choice model under symmetry and index restrictions. The estimator attains the semiparametric e$ciency bound in Cosslett (1987) under the symmetry and independence restrictions. Compared with the estimator of Klein and Spady (1993), which attains the semiparametric e$ciency b...

We consider the problem of estimating the slope parameter in functional linear regression, where scalar responses Y1, . . . , Yn are modeled in dependence of second order stationary random functions X1, . . . , Xn. An orthogonal series estimator of the functional slope parameter with additional thresholding in the Fourier domain is proposed and its performance is measured with respect to a wide...
