Large-scale controllable fabrication of highly roughened flower-like silver nanostructures is demonstrated experimentally via electrodeposition in the liquid crystalline phase. Different sizes of silver flowers are fabricated by adjusting the deposition time and the concentration of the silver nitrate solution. The density of the silver flowers in the sample is also controllable in this work. T...
The presence of either copper(I) or copper(II) chloride in the polyol reduction of silver nitrate facilitates the production of silver nanowires. Silver nanowires have applications in many areas, including electronics and catalysis. These wires are produced quickly (in approximately one hour), with the synthesis being easily performed in disposable glass vials, using only pipettes to deliver re...
Silver compounds share a rich history in technical applications including photography, catalysis, photocatalysis, cloud seeding and as antimicrobial agents. Here we present a class of silver compounds (Ag2B10H10 and Ag2B12H12) that are semiconductors with a bandgap at 2.3 eV in the green visible light spectrum. The silver boranes have extremely high ion conductivity and dynamic-anion facilitate...
Preserve the shape of silver nanocrystals by decorating a shell or frame composed more corrosive resistant metal on their surfaces for applications in plasmonics, catalysis, and electronics.
The strong coupling of inorganic nanocrystals with 2D nanosheets to produce function-enhanced nano-materials with uniform size, dispersion, and high coverage density has long been of interest to scientists from various research fields. Here, a simple and effective method has been described to fabricate ultrafine and well dispersed silver nanocrystals (AgNCs) on graphene oxide (GO), based on a f...
A practical dearomative [4 + 3] cycloaddition of furans with vinylcarbenes to access oxa-bridged seven-membered carbocycles, complete and predictable stereoselectivity, is achieved by merging silver catalysis vinyl- N -triftosylhydrazones.
Nanofibrillar micellar structures formed by the amphiphilic hyperbranched molecules within a Langmuir monolayer were utilized as matter for silver nanoparticle formation from the ion-containing water subphase. We observed that silver nanoparticles were formed within the multifunctional amphiphilic hyperbranched molecules. The diameter of nanoparticles varied from 2-4 nm and was controlled by th...
Design and fabrication of noble metal nanocrystals have attracted much attention due to their wide applications in catalysis, optical detection and biomedicine. However, it still remains a challenge to scale-up the production in a high-quality, low-cost and eco-friendly way. Here we show that single crystalline silver nanobelts grow abundantly on the surface of biomass-derived monolithic activa...
BACKGROUND There is an increasing commercial demand for nanoparticles due to their wide applicability in various markets, including medicine, catalysis, electronics, chemistry, and energy. In this report, a simple and ecofriendly chemical reaction for the synthesis of gold and silver nanoparticles from Trianthema decandra (Aizoaceae) has been developed. METHODS AND RESULTS On treatment of aqu...
Silver(I) complexes catalyse the intramolecular addition of trichloroacetimidates to alkynes. In the absence of a ligand, the selectivity of the reaction is dependent upon the nature of the counter-anion and solvent. The introduction of non-chelating nitrogeneous ligands suppresses competitive Brønsted acid catalysis, improving the yield and selectivity of the reaction.
