Effect of Different Levels Sodium Selenate and Selenite on Morphological Characteristics Nutrients Concentration in Peppermint
Alzheimer's disease (AD) brains are characterized by amyloid-beta-containing plaques and hyperphosphorylated tau-containing neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs); however, in frontotemporal dementia, the tau pathology manifests in the absence of overt amyloid-beta plaques. Therapeutic strategies so far have primarily been targeting amyloid-beta, although those targeting tau are only slowly beginning t...
This study investigated the effect of two forms of Se at three rates (0, 18, and 36 g/ha) on wheat and barley under rain fed conditions. Results showed that spraying application of 18 g/ha Se increased Chl a and Chl a+b contents while the selenium rate 36 g/ha decreased plant pigments. Evaluations of Chl a, Chl b, chlorophyll total a+b, carotenoids, chlorophyll total content, relative water con...
An anaerobic, freshwater enrichment grew with either nitrate or selenate as an electron acceptor. With both ions present, nitrate reduction preceded selenate reduction. An isolate from the enrichment grew on either ion, but the presence of nitrate precluded the reduction of selenate. Stock cultures of denitrifiers grew anaerobically on nitrate but not on selenate.
Selenium is an essential micronutrient, although ingestion in excess in pigs can cause disease conditions including neurological dysfunction and chronic skin and hoof lesions. Controlled feeding trials in growing swine, using the same Se content in feed sources, resulted in higher concentrations (p < or = 0.05) of Se in blood and organs of pigs fed seleno-DL-methionine compared with those recei...
The use of soil additives such as selenium can positively influence the antioxidative system plants, making them more tolerant to abiotic stresses. aim this work was evaluate concentration sodium selenite or selenate applied substrate that causes improve in plant growth and enzyme activities sunflower plants. treatments were divided in: control (absence selenium); 0.2 mg L-1 selenate; 0.4 0.8 s...
Enterobacter cloacae SLD1a-1 is capable of reducing selenium oxyanions to elemental selenium under both aerobic and anaerobic conditions. In this study the enzyme that catalyses the initial reduction of selenate (SeO4(2-)) to selenite (SeO3(2-)) has been localised to isolated cytoplasmic membrane fractions. Experiments with intact cells have shown that the putative selenate reductase can accept...
Prenatal or perinatal hypoxia is among the most frequent pathogenic factors of encephalopaties. It can induce wide-range of morphological, biochemical, energetic and functional alterations. Accordingly we tested changes of excitability of the sensorimotor cortex in 12, 25 and 35-day-old rats exposed and not exposed to short-term (1 hour) hypobaric and normobaric hypoxia. We studied whether sodi...
effects of drought stress and chemical treatments was studied on growth and developmental traits of four barley cultivars using a split- split plot design (rcbd) in agricultural research farm, kerman university. main plots consisted of irrigation (control and drought stress after flowering), sub-plots consisted of four barley cultivars ( ʻnosratʼ, ʻafsalʼ, ʻyousofʼ and ʻuh12 lineʼ) and sub-sub ...
Sodium selenite is more hygroscopic than sodium selenate. It is, therefore, more likely to dissolve when dispersed in feeds of relatively high water activity. When dissolved, it may form selenious acid and disperse as a vapor. This is easily demonstrated by mounting a filter paper wetted with a reagent such as ascorbic acid over the subject feed, but not in contact with it. The paper turns brow...
