This study investigated the C. albicans adhesion to cold- and heat-polymerized soft lining materials that were initially incubated in two different artificial body fluids, namely saliva and nasal secretion, and examined the surface roughness the materials (cold and heat polymerized soft liner) tested in vitro. Cold (Visco Gel) and heat-polymerized (Molloplast B) soft liner specimens (N=32, n=8 ...

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM Bonding failure between acrylic resin and soft liner material and also gradual loss of soft liner resiliency over time are two impending challenges frequently recognized with a denture base embraced with a resilient liner. Since patients drink various beverages, it is crucial to assess the influences of these beverages on physical characteristics of soft liners. PURPO...

We present an XMM-Newton observation of the Seyfert-LINER galaxy NGC 7213. The RGS soft X-ray spectrum is well fitted with a power law plus soft X-ray collisionally ionised thermal plasma (kT = 0.18 −0.01 keV). We confirm the presence of Fe I, XXV and XXVI Kα emission in the EPIC spectrum and set tighter constraints on their equivalent widths of 82 −13, 24 +9 −11 and 24 +10 −13 eV respectively....

A resilient soft liner (RSL) has been used in processed complete dentures but controlling its thickness has always been a challenge because of uneven reduction of the denture’s intaglio surface. Use of a thermoplastic vacuum-formed template and an endodontic K-file, as guides, for the reduction of a processed mandibular complete denture to receive RSL is described in the present report. A proce...

Aim The aim of this study is to evaluate and to compare the effect of different light-curing modes and different liners on cuspal deflection in premolar teeth restored with bulk filled or incrementally filled composite measured at different time intervals. Materials and Methods The study was divided into two parts (Part 1-different curing modes, Part 2-different liner) each with sixty extract...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate, in situ, the initial adhesion of microorganisms to as well as the surface roughness and chemical composition of ProBase Hot (Ivoclar Vivadent), a hard acrylic resin, and Vertex Soft (Vertex-Dental), an acrylic-based soft liner, used in removable dental prostheses. MATERIALS AND METHODS Equal sized disks of ProBase Hot and Vertex Soft were pre...

Statement of problems: Two potential problems commonly identified with a denture base incorporating a resilient liner are a failure of the bond between the acrylic resin and resilient liner material and colonization of Candida albicans over time. Aims: This in vitro experimental study evaluated the shear and compressive bond strength as well as colonization of Candida albicans of commonly avail...

The effect of Candida albicans biofilms and methyl methacrylate (MMA) pretreatment on the bond strength between soft denture liners and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resin was analyzed. Specimens were prepared and randomly divided with respect to PMMA pretreatment, soft liner type (silicone-based or PMMA-based), and presence or absence of a C. albicans biofilm. Samples were composed of a soft ...

Aims: To study the effect of metal oxide nanoparticles (MgO, ZrO2, ZnO) on acrylic based soft liner surface properties and FTIR. Materials Methods: Acrylic-based soft-liner specimens were prepared by adding three different concentrations (0.5, 1, 2) %wt ZnO). A disk-shaped with 30mm diameter 3mm thickness for shore (A) hardness test to evaluate modified liner. The roughness samples (10X10X2mm) ...
