Brachial plexus schwannomas are rare tumors. They are benign nerve sheath tumors and only about 5% of Schwannoma arise from the brachial plexus. They pose a great challenge to surgeons due to their rare occurrence and complex anatomical location. We present two cases who presented with a supraclavicular swelling, that were proven to be schwannoma on histopathology.
We report a case of a young girl with Turner syndrome presenting with a pulsatile left-sided supraclavicular swelling since birth, which proved to be the rare anomaly of a cervical aortic arch. Though elongation of the transverse aortic arch is well known in Turner syndrome, to the best of our knowledge, a cervical aortic arch has not been described in the literature.
A 67-yr-old woman was admitted with dyspnoea, chest and neck pain and swelling of both supraclavicular fossae and the neck. Chest X-ray showed bilateral pleural effusions. Thoracocentesis yielded a milky fluid with a high triglyceride level. Four previously published cases had similar clinical manifestations. The pathophysiology is discussed.
Hydatid disease, also known as echinococcosis or hydatidosis, is a zoonotic infection caused by the larval forms (metacestode) of Echinococcus granulosus. Hydatid disease is an important public health problem and is endemic in sheep and cattle raising areas worldwide. Musculoskeletal or soft tissue hydatidosis accounts for about 0.5%-5%. Even in regions where echinococcosis is endemic, hydatido...
Isolated fracture of a cervical rib is a very rare entity and usually presents as a painless swelling or as thoracic outlet syndrome. We describe a case of a 45-year-old woman with history of fall two months back. She presented with symptoms of neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome for one month. Isolated left cervical rib fracture was documented on X-ray cervical spine. Her fractured cervical ri...

We present the case of a 23-year-old man with abdominal pain, nausea vomiting and neck swelling. Contrast enhanced computed tomography (CECT) of the neck, chest, abdomen and pelvis showed extensive left supraclavicular adenopat...
INTRODUCTION Cervical spine osteochondromas are rare tumors that usually involve the posterior spinal elements. Osteochondromas of the cervical spine presenting anteriorly as a mass over the supraclavicular region has not been reported in the literature. CASE REPORT A 12-year-old boy presented with right sided supraclavicular swelling. Plain radiographs revealed a bony mass. Computerized tomo...
A 62-year-old man presented with a 6-week history of shortness of breath, weight loss and painful swelling of the great toe. Examination elicited an ulcerated swelling of the right great toe, thought to be an ingrowing toenail. Chest 'crackles' and an enlarged supraclavicular lymph node were detected. Biopsies of the toe swelling and bronchi both showed squamous cell carcinoma, confirmed radiol...
