background anterior cruciate ligament (acl) injury is the most common sports injury in both athletes and nonathletes; it can cause disability if not treated correctly. in cases with minor injuries, conservative treatments suffice. but, in cases with acl tear, surgery by different methods and autografts are indicated. the most prevalent method for acl reconstruction is the use of hamstring tendo...

BACKGROUND The optimal management of chronic ruptures of the Achilles tendon is surgical reconstruction. Reconstruction of the Achilles tendon using peroneus brevis has been widely reported. Classically, these procedures involve relatively long surgical wounds in a relatively hypovascular area which is susceptible to wound breakdown. RESULTS We describe our current method of peroneus brevis r...

Background: Rupture of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) would cause instability and disability and if left untreated. Reconstruction is performed by different techniques including patellar bone graft, as the strongest device. Application of brace after ACL reconstructions has revealed doubtful results. Methods: One hundred ACL ruptured patients randomized into two groups were reconstructed with...

Neglected patella tendon ruptures require reconstruction using tendon grafts. The LARS ligament has been successfully used in cruciate and collateral knee ligament reconstruction. We present a technique using LARS ligament for the reconstruction of a chronic patella tendon rupture in a low-demand patient. The result after 1-year follow-up was deemed successful.

BACKGROUND The best choice of graft tissue for use in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction has been the subject of debate. HYPOTHESIS Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with patellar tendon autograft leads to greater knee stability than reconstruction with hamstring tendon autograft. STUDY DESIGN Metaanalysis. METHODS A Medline search identified articles published from January...

PURPOSE After complex hand trauma, restoration of tendon strength is challenging. Tendon insertion tears typically heal as fibrous scars after surgical reconstruction and create a weak point at the tendon-bone interface. In addition, major tendon loss may overwhelm the amount of available autograft for reconstruction. An off-the-shelf product may help address these challenges. We hypothesized t...

Injuries of the flexor tendon are usually open injuries. In most cases primary treatment is therefore seldom performed by orthopaedic surgeons. This is different for injuries of the extensor tendon. Three quarters of injuries of the extensor tendon are closed injuries. Therefore we do go into primary and secondary reconstruction of the flexor tendon, but focus on primary and secondary reconstru...

BACKGROUND after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, it is necessary to integrate free tendon graft biologically to the bone. In the present study, to verify whether a structure identical to the normal ligament-bone insertion could be regenerated at the tendon-bone interface without bone tunnel, we designed ACL reconstruction model without a tibial bone tunnel. Moreover, to enhance...

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is a relatively common knee injury during sports activities (Uhorchak, 2003). A torn ACL usually occurs through a twisting force being applied to the knee whilst the foot is firmly planted on the ground or upon landing (Boden, 2000). The traditional surgical treatment for ACL rupture is ACL reconstruction by an autogenous tendon graft. However, fibroblast...

Five patients with recurrent dislocation of the extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU) tendon resulting from an athletic injury were treated by reconstruction of the ECU tendon sheath, and each had a satisfactory result. Two types of disruption of the fibro-osseous sheath were found. In two cases in which the fibro-osseous sheath ruptured radially, the torn sheath lay on its ulnar groove beneath the ECU ...
