The association between TSH and serum lipids in people with no apparent thyroid dysfunction is less understood. We have investigated the association between normal thyroid function, defined as TSH within the reference range and serum lipids concentrations. Cross-sectional, population based study with 1785 individuals without known thyroid dysfunction. We calculated mean concentrations of total ...

The effects of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) deficiency on thyroid development was examined using ultrasonography in a child with congenital isolated TSH deficiency. Ultrasound revealed the thyroid gland was one sixth normal volume, suggesting that TSH plays an important part in thyroid growth, but not a critical role in differentiation.

Aims and Objectives: This study aimed to assess compare follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing (LH), prolactin, thyroid-stimulating (TSH) levels in normal fertile females, patients with primary infertility, early pregnancy loss (EPL). Methods: Patients were divided into three groups of 25 each. Group I consisted II EPL, C females acted as the control group. Hormone different compared s...

Background Beta-thalassemia is the most common hematology disease in human and leptin is one of the hormone that produce by adiposities cells. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum leptin level and thyroid hormones in children with major beta-thalassemia. Materials and Methods This descriptive-cross sectional study was performed on 90 children aged 6-16...

Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) stimulates adipocyte lipolysis, but signal transduction pathways activated by TSH for this response have not been directly studied. Using differentiated 3T3-L1 adipocytes as well as primary human adipocytes, we characterized the lipolytic action of TSH with dose-response and time-course studies, and compared it with isoproterenol. Thyroid-stimulating hormone st...

There have been many observations describing morphological and biochemical alterations in the thyroid after administration of thyroid-stimulating hormone. The hormone has been shown to increase oxygen consumption (l-3), incorporation of P32 into phospholipids (4), iodide uptake (5), the formation of iodotyrosines (6, 7), and glucose oxidation (8, 9) by thyroid tissue in vitro. There have recent...

Background and Aims: 25-hydroxy vitamin D3 is recognized to be an essential element for healthy body; however, its deficiency has been identified as a risk factor for thyroid disease, diabetes mellitus and other autoimmune diseases and infectious diseases. Thyroid disease is common in the general population that its prevalence increases proportional to age. Subjects with poorly controlled diabe...
