The Midlands and South -west of England are represented by a long oak tree -ring chronology spanning approximately 4500 -3900 BC (calibrated radiocarbon dates). The wood on which it is based originates in a technologically advanced trackway crossing the low -lying Somerset Levels, in a coastal submerged forest probably killed by rising sea -level, and in flood -plain oaks washed down the River ...

We mapped migration routes of migratory songbirds to the Neotropics by using light-level geolocators mounted on breeding purple martins (Progne subis) and wood thrushes (Hylocichla mustelina). Wood thrushes from the same breeding population occupied winter territories within a narrow east-west band in Central America, suggesting high connectivity of breeding and wintering populations. Pace of s...

Received internationalization theory argues that firms occupy domestic space before going abroad; in other words, large, oligopolistic firms are most likely to internationalize. The experience of China, whose economy is fragmented and whose firms are small by global standards, suggests otherwise. We construct a model of small firm internationalization driven by the relative transaction costs of...

We show that if a graph G with n ≥ 3 vertices can be drawn in the plane such that each of its edges is involved in at most four crossings, then G has at most 6n− 12 edges. This settles a conjecture of Pach, Radoičić, Tardos, and Tóth. As a corollary we also obtain a better bound for the Crossing Lemma which gives a lower bound for the minimum number of crossings in a drawing of a graph.

Background Given that school-age students, as active road users, are more vulnerable to injury compared with other pedestrians, a large number of them, following an injury, may either fail to go to school at least for a short time or even suffer from disabilities for the rest of their lives. The aim of this study was to determine safe behavior in road crossing using the theory of planned behavi...
