To explore the value of serum levels of CA125, platelet count (PLT), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and modified CA125 markers CA125a and CA125b in predicting pelvic dense adhesion (PDA) associated with adenomyosis, CA125a = lg(CA125 × PLT × 10), CA125b = lg(CA125 × NLR).This retrospective study included 304 patients who underwent surgery for adenomyosis. Correlations of serum levels of CA1...
BACKGROUND Treatment for patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in premature infants can consist of medical or surgical approaches. The appropriate therapeutic regimen remains contentious. This study evaluated the role of surgery in improving the survival of premature neonates weighing less than 1,500 g with PDA. MATERIALS AND METHODS From January 2008 to June 2011, 68 patients weighing less than 1,5...
BACKGROUND Several cohort studies have shown an association between low platelet counts in the first day(s) of life and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) in preterm infants. However, these results have not been confirmed by other studies. OBJECTIVE To perform a meta-analysis of all the studies addressing the relationship between platelet counts in the first day(s) of life and PDA in preterm infa...
Dopamine is a neurotransmitter commonly used in clinical treatment. Polydopamine (PDA) has excellent histocompatibility and biosafety and can efficiently convert near-infrared reflection (NIR) to thermal energy. In this study, PDA was used as a promising carrier, and pH-responsive polymer-coated drug-loaded PDA nanoparticles (NPs; doxorubicin@ poly(allylamine)-citraconic anhydride [Dox@PAH-cit]...
We report a case of two babies with absence of pericardium and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA). The absence of pericardium was found coincidentally during PDA ligation. The PDA was successfully ligated but the pericardium was not reconstructed. Postoperatively, the agenesis of the pericardium did not interfere with cardiac function.
Introduction Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is due to the failure of the ductus arteriosus to close after birth, and its incidence being inversely related to gestational age and birth weight (1,2). The incidence of PDA in term infants has been estimated to be 57 per 100 000 live births, whereas every third preterm infant with a birth weight of 501 to 1500 g can be expected to have a persistent ...
Polydopamine functionalized reduced graphene oxide-gold nanoparticle (PDA-RGO/Au) nanocomposites were successfully prepared by a simple and mild procedure. The PDA-RGO/Au nanocomposite is successfully formed in an aqueous buffer solution (pH 8.5) without using any reducing agent. FTIR confirmed the successful coating of PDA and informed the reduction of the surface functional groups of GO. The ...
Dear Editor, Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a persistence of fetal communication, ductus arteriosus, which connects the aorta and pulmonary artery. One of the most common congenital heart conditions, PDA accounts for approximately 10% of all congenital heart defects.1 Closure of the PDA (other than the silent duct) is recommended to prevent congestive heart failure, infection and pulmonary h...
"Isthmus taping method" as the safe and simple technique for division of patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), along with surgical and follow-up results were reported. 175 patients with PDA and without other cardiac anomalies were operated by this technique. Most of the patients were operated by junior surgeons as a first step in cardiac surgery. The left chest was entered through posterolateral thor...
This study had two goals. First, it investigated marital interaction variables as predictors of treatment outcome in panic disorder with agoraphobia (PDA) in sixty-five couples with one spouse suffering from PDA. Second, it analyzed the impact of PDA improvement, following therapy, on marital interaction patterns of both spouses. The partners were observed during a problem-solving task, before ...
