We present a general scheme for describing ŝu(N)k fusion rules in terms of elementary couplings, using Berenstein-Zelevinsky triangles. A fusion coupling is characterized by its corresponding tensor product coupling (i.e. its Berenstein-Zelevinsky triangle) and the threshold level at which it first appears. We show that a closed expression for this threshold level is encoded in the Berenstein-Z...
A new family of implicit, single-step time integration methods is presented for solving structural dynamics problems. The proposed method is unconditionally stable, second-order accurate and asymptotically annihilating. It is spectrally equivalent to Houbolt's method but is cast in single-step form rather than multi-step form; thus the new algorithm computationally is more convenient. An explic...
This paper presents a matching procedure for generating an acyclic phase type distribution of order N given the first 2N − 1 moments, if they are feasible. The matching procedure uses an iterative approach and, theoretically, it can be applied to match an arbitrary number of moments. The first step of the iterative procedure contains the solution of an equation of order N and the order is decre...
A variety of second-order accurate, in both space and time, full and approximate factorization methods for the numerical solution of two-dimensional reaction–diffusion equations is presented. These methods may use time linearization and yield linearly implicit techniques and one-dimensional operators in each direction. It is shown that, if the factorization errors are neglected, linearly implic...
We present the numerical method for solution of some linear and non-linear parabolic equation. Using idea [1], we will present the explicit unconditional stable scheme which has no restriction on the step size ratio k/h2 where k and h are step sizes for space and time respectively. We will also present numerical results to justify the present scheme.
Empirical Colebrook equation implicit in unknown flow friction factor (λ) is an accepted standard for calculation of hydraulic resistance in hydraulically smooth and rough pipes. The Colebrook equation gives friction factor (λ) implicitly as a function of the Reynolds number (Re) and relative roughness (ε/D) of inner pipe surface; i.e. λ0=f(λ0, Re, ε/D). The paper presents a problem that requir...
