In the title compound, (C(8)H(12)N)(2)[ZnBr(4)], the coordination geometry of the anion is approximately tetra-hedral. The Zn-Br bond lengths range from 2.3901 (19) to 2.449 (2) Å and the Br-Zn-Br angles range from 107.09 (8) to 112.48 (8)°. In the crystal, each [ZnBr(4)](2-) anion is connected to four cations through two N-H⋯Br and two C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds, forming two-dimensional ⋯(cation)(2...

A broad and simple method permitted halide ions in quaternary heteroaromatic and ammonium salts to be exchanged for a variety of anions using an anion exchange resin (A(-) form) in non-aqueous media. The anion loading of the AER (OH(-) form) was examined using two different anion sources, acids or ammonium salts, and changing the polarity of the solvents. The AER (A(-) form) method in organic s...

CFTR: Mechanism of Anion Conduction. Physiol. Rev. 79, Suppl.: S47-S75, 1999. - The purpose of this review is to collect together the results of recent investigations of anion conductance by the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator along with some of the basic background that is a prerequisite for developing some physical picture of the conduction process. The review begins with ...

This tutorial review describes the evolution of the field of chemical templation, in particular, emphasising the impact its application has made to the synthesis of mechanically interlocked structures. Recent advances in the use of negatively charged template species for the synthesis of interlocked structures are detailed, with the main focus of this review describing the development of a gene...

This review deals with the structural transitions arising in anion-deficient Mn- and Cu-based perovskites when changing the anion content. Special attention is devoted to the local structure of such materials, studied with electron diffraction and high-resolution electron microscopy. Using examples of three-dimensional or layered manganites and cuprates, it is shown that oxidation/reduction rea...

The title compound, C(4)H(12)N(2) (2+)·2C(2)H(2)NO(3) (-), contains a network of doubly protanated piperazinium cations (lying about centres of inversion) and dioxamate anions. The piperazinium dication adopts a typical chair conformation. The crystal structure is stabilized by cation-to-anion N-H⋯O and anion-to-anion N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Both the voltage-dependent anion channel and the glucose-regulated protein 78 have been identified as plasminogen kringle 5 receptors on endothelial cells. In this study, we demonstrate that kringle 5 binds to a region localized in the N-terminal domain of the glucose-regulated protein 78, whereas microplasminogen does so through the C-terminal domain of the glucose-regulated protein 78. Both p...

Aquaporin 6 (AQP6) is unique among mammalian AQPs in being an anion channel with negligible water permeability. However, the point mutation Asn60Gly converts AQP6 from an anion channel into a water channel. In the present study of human AQP5, we mutated Leu51 (corresponding to residue 61 in AQP6), the side chain of which faces the central pore. We evaluated function in Xenopus oocytes by two-el...

Prestin is the motor protein of cochlear outer hair cells. It belongs to a distinct anion transporter family called solute carrier protein 26A, or SLC26A. Members of this family serve two fundamentally distinct functions. Although most members transport different anion substrates across a variety of epithelia, prestin (SLC26A5) is unique, functioning as a voltage-dependent motor protein. Recent...
