Here h(G), the Fitting height (also called the nilpotent length) of G, is as defined in [7]. P(G), the 7t-length of G, is defined in an obvious analogy to the definition of ^-length in [2]. Higman [3] proved Theorem 1 in the case w = l (subsequently, without making any assumptions on the solvability of G, Thompson [6] obtained the same result). Hoffman [4] and Shult [5] proved Theorem 1 provide...

This paper is meant to give a background into the purpose of steam traps, failure modes and consequences, and current methods to detect failure. While we give a broad overview of legacy and new methods of implementing a steam trap health monitoring system, the desired outcome would be for Rosemount, Inc. to work with you in a collaborative relationship to find the solutions that best fit your n...

We introduce EmbodiComp, a novel system that leverages simple and common gestures to allow for simultaneous mixing and composition. Through the use of a “band performance” metaphor that offers users the illusion of being part of an ensemble, musicians are able to play and mix their instruments with pre-recorded tracks in real-time through embodied interactions. Using five unique features, our s...

This paper presents a signal processing approach for vibration measurement using self-mixing interferometer (SMI). Compared to existing approaches, the proposed approach is able to achieve an accuracy of λ/40 which significantly exceeds the accuracy limit associated with conventional simple SMI systems λ/4.

manuscripta mathematica manuscript No. Abstract. The core of a projective dimension one module is computed explicitly in terms of Fitting ideals. In particular, our formula recovers previous work by R. Mohan on integrally closed torsionfree modules over a two-dimensional regular local ring.

Principal curves are smooth curves that minimize the average squared orthogonal distance to each point in a data set. Fitting a principal curve is a maximum-likelihood technique for nonlinear regression in the presence of Gaussian noise on both x and y. We choose two definitions of principal curves in the literature and then present experimental results to discuss over them.

compute thematic fit for pairs relying only on distributional information (no information about semantic types) compare thematic fit differences across conditions and processing cost differences (high processing cost → low thematic fit, corresponding to 1-thematic fit in the model) verify if the computational model yields the same main effects and pairwise differences reported by t...

Decision on alternative-fuel vehicles is one of the most important problems for fleet operations. In this paper we propose a hierarchical hesitant fuzzy linguistic model that captures hesitant linguistic evaluations of multiple experts on multiple criteria for alternative-fuel vehicles. We apply the proposed model on the alternative-fuel vehicle selection problem of a home health care service p...

To each finitely presented module M over a commutative ring R one can associate an R-ideal FitR(M) which is called the (zeroth) Fitting ideal of M over R and which is always contained in the R-annihilator of M . In an earlier article, the second named author generalised this notion by replacing R with a (not necessarily commutative) o-order Λ in a finite dimensional separable algebra, where o i...
