We demonstrate phase lock of two > 1.6W Titanium:sapphire lasers with a phase noise of -138 dBc/Hz at 1MHz from the carrier, using an intra-cavity electro-optic phase modulator. The residual phase variance is 2.5 × 10 rad integrated from 1Hz to 10 kHz. Instantaneous offset frequency steps of up to 4MHz are achieved within 200 ns. Simultaneous atom interferometers can make full use of this ultra...

A simple analysis is performed for the absorption properties of graphene sandwiched between two media. For a proper choice of media and graphene doping/gating one can approach 50-100% absorption in the GHz-THz range for the one atom thick material. This absorption is controlled by a characteristic chemical potential which depends only on carrier life-time and the indexes of refraction of the di...

The dynamical stability of dark solitons in dipolar Bose-Einstein condensates is studied. For standard short-range interacting condensates, dark solitons are unstable against transverse excitations in two and three dimensions. On the contrary, due to its nonlocal character, the dipolar interaction allows for stable 3D stationary dark solitons, opening a qualitatively novel scenario in nonlinear...

Abstract The interaction of light with a single two-level emitter is the most fundamental process in quantum optics, and key to many applications. As distinctive feature, two photons are never detected simultaneously scattered by emitter. This commonly interpreted saying that can only absorb emit photons. However, it has been theoretically proposed photon anticorrelations be thought as arising ...

We present numerical and experimental results for the development of islands of stability in atom-optics billiards with soft walls. As the walls are soften, stable regions appear near singular periodic trajectories in converging (focusing) and dispersing billiards, and are surrounded by areas of ”stickiness” in phase-space. The size of these islands depends on the softness of the potential in a...
