We will analyze the number of comparisons needed to solve the problem of sorting n distinct items into ascending order, and the related problem of selecting the kth smallest item from an unsorted list of n items. Section 1 examines mergesort, an algorithm with excellent worst case performance, and Section 2 examines quicksort, an algorithm with excellent average case performance. Section 3 cont...

This study examined the substantive and predictive validity facets of the University Entrance Examination for English Major (UEEEM) students. To that aim, 111 English major students were recruited to report their scores on each of the subtests of the test as well as their grade point average. Sequential multiple regressions and factor analysis were used in the analysis of the data. Results ackn...

In this paper introduce the average outgoing quality (AOQ) and average total inspect (ATI) for single sampling plan when that proportion nonconforming items is fuzzy number. We have shown that AOQ and ATI curves of the plan are like a band having a high and low bounds. Keywords—Statistical quality control, acceptance single sampling, average outgoing quality, average total inspection, fuzzy num...

There has been some interest on how the average character degree affects structure of a finite group. We define, and denote by $ \mathrm{anz}(G) $, number zeros characters group G as in table divided irreducible $. show that if < 1 then is solvable also \frac{1}{2} supersolvable. characterise abelian groups showing \frac{1}{3} only abelian.

We calculate the average number of sub-jets in a jet, deened using a recently proposed jet clustering algorithm for hadron-hadron collisions. Our result is exact to leading order in S ; and resums large leading and next-to-leading logarithms of the resolution variable, y cut ; to all orders in S .

this thesis attempts to investigate the effects of prelistening activities on enhancing iranian efl learners` listening comprehension. the present study investigated ways in which learners` background knowledge could be activated in order to enhance their l2 listening comprehension by limiting the number of possible text interpretations prior to listening. the experiments conducted in this study examined the effect of prior knowledge and vocabulary teaching on iranian efl learners listening comprehension. the current study has two purposes: one is to investigate the effect of background knowledge on the second language listening comprehension of iranian intermediates and the other is to determine whether second language is facilitated by the introduction of unknown vocabularies in the form of prelistening activities. to conduct the study different instruments such as listening proficiency test and four listening tests such as pre and posttests were used and various statistical processes and techniques including paired-sample t-test, and analysis of variance (anova) were used. the findings of this study supported all three hypotheses tested. differences were found between the means of preteaching vocabulary variable, the background knowledge activation variable, and mean difference between these two strategies variable. subjects scored higher when the unknown words were taught in advance. likewise, subjects scored higher when they were asked some relevant questions about the topic than on those without them. there was, in addition, a significant difference between the means of preteaching vocabulary strategy and background knowledge activation strategy. in fact, preteaching vocabulary had a better effect in enhancing the students’ listening comprehension, in comparison to background knowledge activation strategy.

The probable behavior of am iuslance of size 1). of the stable marriage problem, chosen uniformly at rmdonl, is studied. Tl~e expected number of stable matchings is shown to be asymptotic t20 e-l77 In 1) for n m. The total rank of wonieu by nleu in the male optimal (pessimnl) matching is proven to be close to II In 11 (resp. T?.‘/ In j?), with high probability. 1980 Mat1~ema.tic.s Subject Class...

In high-strength steels it is often difficult to distinguish between hydrogen embrittlement and various other brittle failure mechanisms. The objective of this work was to develop a sensitive analytical procedure based on secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) that would allow in-service identification of local hydrogen accumulation, either during quality control or during failure analysis of e...
