Baryon production is studied within the framework of quantized fragmentation a QCD string. Baryons appear in model fairly intuitive way, with help causally connected string breakups. A simple helical approximation flux tube parameters constrained by mass spectrum light mesons sufficient to reproduce masses baryons.

Recent developments of the model quantized helical QCD string are presented, notably baryon production. An overview experimental evidence is discussed as well possible applications.
