Easy as 1,2,3: Reaction of methyl carbamate, triethyl orthoformate, and readily available alkenes provides a highly practical preparation of protected aminocyclopropanes. The reaction proceeds with preferential cis addition to alkenes, and cleavage of the methyl carbamate gives the free aminocyclopropanes as their HI salts.

A novel and convenient approach, the domino retro Diels-Alder/Diels-Alder reaction sequence for highly stereo- and regioselective synthesis of various bicyclo[2.2.2]octenone and bicyclo[2.2.2]octadienone derivatives is presented. Thus, the masked o-benzoquinones (MOBs) 2a-e generated by the pyrolysis of the respective dimers 3a-e participated in this novel synthetic strategy with a variety of o...

During alcoholic fermentation, the yeasts responsible for process produce various metabolites, including urea. The reaction of urea with ethanol spontaneously generates ethyl carbamate in wine, a carcinogenic metabolite whose concentration needs to be regulated. Yeasts during arginine metabolic pathway. For this purpose, adaptive evolution has been used by using toxic analogue l-arginine, l-can...

Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases (cytochrome P450s), found in virtually all living organisms, play an important role in the metabolism of xenobiotics such as drugs, pesticides, and plant toxins. We have previously evaluated the responses of the oriental migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) to the pyrethroid insecticide deltamethrin and revealed that increased cytochrome P450 enzyme activity was ...

Anopheles gambiae s.l. (Diptera: Culicidae) in Muleba, Tanzania has developed high levels of resistance to most insecticides currently advocated for malaria control. The kdr mutation has almost reached fixation in An. gambiae s.s. in Muleba. This change has the potential to jeopardize malaria control interventions carried out in the region. Trends in insecticide resistance were monitored in two...

This paper describes results from a systematic review and a series of meta-analyses of nearly three decades worth of epidemiologic research on the relationship between non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) and occupational exposure to agricultural pesticide active ingredients and chemical groups. Estimates of associations of NHL with 21 pesticide chemical groups and 80 active ingredients were extracted fr...

Carbofuran (2,3-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-7-benzofuranyl-N-methylcarbamate), a broad spectrum N-methyl carbamate insecticide, and its metabolite, 3-hydroxycarbofuran, exert their toxicity by reversibly inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE). To characterize AChE inhibition from carbofuran exposure, a physiologically based pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PBPK/PD) model was developed in the Exposure-...

The effect of Carbosulfan (CB), a carbamate insecticide which has been used widely in agriculture, was investigated using wistar rat. Carbosulfan was administered orally at sublethal concentration at a dose of 25 mg/kg to 12 male rats ad libitum during the tests for 30 days consecutively. The effect of CB on hematological constituent [Red Blood Corpuscules (RBC), White Blood Corpuscules (WBC), ...
