We present a case of nephrotic syndrome, associated with small cell lung carcinoma. Renal biopsy revealed membranous glomerulonephritis, probably due to immune complex deposition with tumour antigen. Complete remission of the small cell lung carcinoma after chemotherapy was followed by regression of the nephrotic syndrome. This regression persisted even when brain metastases developed, without ...

Granulomatous prostatitis is a rare benign inflammatory condition of prostate. It is mistaken for prostatic carcinoma. Clinically it presents as hard nodule on digital rectal examination with raised serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) levels and reduced free PSA levels. We report a rare case of non-specific granulomatous prostatitis clinically diagnosed as carcinoma prostate.

: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most prevalent type of primary cancer liver in adults represent about 80%-90% all cancers. It essential to differentiate HCC and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma metastatic carcinoma. Arginase-1 was considered as sensitive specific marker benign malignant hepatocyte. This study aimed detect diagnostic role immunohistochemical expression arginase-1 differen...

OBJECTIVES To characterize minute prostate cancer seen at radical prostatectomy. With aggressive screening and more extensive biopsy sampling, we have increasingly seen these cancers at radical prostatectomy. METHODS We examined radical prostatectomy specimens submitted in total for minute cancer. RESULTS During the past 1.5 years, 78 prostates (5.2%) had either no cancer (2 cases) or conta...

The author reports a rare case of sarcomatoid carcinoma with an emphasis on immunohistochemical features. A 79-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of hematuria. An endoscopy revealed a large polypoid tumor in the bladder, and urine cytology demonstrated malignant cells. A cystectomy was performed. The patient is now alive without metastasis 4 months after the operation. Grossly, a...

Monoclonal antibody (mAb) G250 is a well characterized and specific mAb to renal cell carcinoma (RCC). The gene G250 was recently cloned and was proved to be homologous to MN/CA9. The G250/MN/CA9 antigen was recently explored as a potential marker for RCC. Flow cytometry (FCM) allows quantitative analysis of cells. The present study describes a flow cytometric method to detect this antigen in h...

Immunohistochemical staining utilizing a peroxidase-antiperoxidase (PAP) technique for keratin, carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) was performed on paraffin sections from 72 cases of lung cancer obtained at autopsy. Positive reaction was shown in 44% of the cases for keratin, 77% for CEA, and 58% for HCG. AFP was positive in only one c...

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infections are a global public health problem. Chronic hepatitis (CHB) infection is associated with an increased risk of cirrhosis, hepatic decompensation and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In virus-infected liver cells, HBsAg produced in excess secreted into the blood, where it serves as marker for active infectivity. Currently, recombinant used HBV vaccination, develo...

The presence of regional lymph node metastasis is one of the most significant poor-prognosis factors in patients with biliary tract carcinoma. To establish a sensitive reverse transcription (RT)-PCR assay to detect micrometastases in lymph nodes of biliary tract carcinoma, we first investigated the optimal markers in biliary tract carcinoma. The expressions of the six candidates for a suitable ...
