silica supported phosphorus pentoxide (p2o5·sio2) is an efficient catalyst for synthesis of 1,3,5-substituted pyrazoles via the condensation of 1,3-diketones and hydrazines. simplicity of procedure, mild condition, being solvent-free, high yields, and easy workup are some advantages of this protocol.

silica-bonded n-propyldiethylenetriamine sulfamic acid (spdtsa) is employed as a recyclable heterogeneous solid acid catalyst for the synthesis of benzopyrano[2,3-d]pyrimidines  through one-pot condensation reaction of salicylaldehydes, malononitrile and secondary amines  at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. spdtsa showed much the same efficiency when used in consecutive reaction ...

The activity and recyclability of Cu-MOF-74 as a catalyst was studied for the ligand-free C-O cross-coupling reaction of 4-nitrobenzaldehyde (NB) with phenol (Ph) to form 4-formyldiphenyl ether (FDE). Cu-MOF-74 is characterized by having unsaturated copper sites in a highly porous metal-organic framework. The influence of solvent, reaction temperature, NB/Ph ratio, catalyst concentration, and b...

Biodiesel is an alternative diesel fuel consisting of the alkyl monoesters of fatty acids from vegetable oils or animal fats. Currently, most biodiesel is made from soybean oil, methanol, and an alkaline catalyst. However, there are large amounts of fats and oils that are unsuitable for human consumption that could be converted to biodiesel at lower cost. The problem with processing these waste...

a highly efficient, simple and clean solvent-free protocol for the synthesis of polyhydroquinolines is described. the one-pot multi-component condensation reaction between arylaldehydes, dimedone (5,5-dimethylcyclohexane-1,3-dione), β-ketoesters and ammonium acetate in the presence of catalytic amount of (2.5 mol%) melamine trisulfonic acid (mtsa) as a recyclable, green and attractive sulfonic ...

A novel noble metal-free catalyst, with nitrogen-doped amorphous carbon and titanium nitride particles supported on SiC (NC-TiN/SiC), was synthesized. The NC-TiN/SiC catalyst exhibited excellent oxygen reduction reaction activities as well as superior stability and methanol tolerance. The catalytic activities were attributed to the synergistic effect of TiN and NC.

High yields of single-crystalline Ge nanowires (NWs) were synthesised in the vapour phase of a high boiling point organic solvent without the need for metal catalyst particles. High density, perpendicular arrays of Ge NWs were subsequently grown from ITO coated substrates. The approach represents a convenient route toward orientated arrays of catalyst-free Ge NWs.

The anionic and the cationic partners of ionic liquids may act cooperatively and independently as nucleophilic and electrophilic catalysts. This ambiphilic propensity was demonstrated by kinetically discriminating the contributions of the anion (nucleophilic catalyst) and of the cation (electrophilic catalyst) to the solvent-free Baylis– Hillman dimerization of cyclohexenone catalysed by ionic ...

We report the synthesis of a superparamagnetic nanoparticle MNP (γ-Fe(2)O(3)/polymer) supported dendritic catalyst based on a bulky electron-rich phosphine Pd(II) complex. The high reactivity of this catalyst is described in a copper-free Sonogashira C-C cross-coupling reaction in water, and the significant role of surfactant additives is highlighted in the recovery study.

Heck reaction catalyzed by cobalt hollow nanospheres has been developed; the coupling of alkenes with aryl iodide or aryl bromide in the presence of potassium carbonate provides the corresponding products with moderate to good yields, which reveals obvious advantages such as low-cost catalyst, ligand-free condition, the recyclability of the catalyst and simple experimental operation.
