Reactivation of telomerase is a critical step in the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Here we identified the frequency of mutations in telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) promoter was 34% in non-clear cell HCC (NCCHCC, n = 259) and 26.3% in clear cell HCC (CCHCC, n = 57). The mutations were independently associated with poor recurrence-free survival of HCCs. Interestingly immu...

I read in your Journal, with great interest, the paper by Veiga and coworkers about two cases of clear cell acanthomas located in the nipple area, with histological and immunohistochemical studies. They claim in the discussion, that only five cases had been previously described in the English literature and all affecting Korean women. Four of these cases mimicked chronic eczema. Two new cases w...

Although uncommonly diagnosed, clear cell acanthoma represents an original source of speculative interest for dermatologists. Due to its clinical variability, it is often only recognized accidentally after histology. Dermoscopy has improved the reliability of clinical diagnosis of typical clear cell acanthoma thanks to the vascular pinpoint pattern and desquamative, peripheral collarette. Gener...

A 9-year-old male presented with a renal tumor that showed a cystic structure with calcification on computed tomography. A pathological analysis of the resected tumor suggested clear cell sarcoma of the kidney (CCSK). Thus, this patient suffered atypical CCSK with significant calcification and gross necrosis. A novel chromosomal abnormality was also identified in the tumor.

Chondrosarcomas constitute 1-3% of all head and neck tumors. 2% of all chondrosarcomas are of the “clear cell” variety which follows a locally aggressive, relatively indolent course without predominant invasion of soft tissue. We present a case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with a aggressive variant of clear cell chondrosarcoma.

Intussusception in adults is a rare clinical entity. The individual surgeon will not often encounter this condition. A lead-point for adult intussusception exists in 90% of cases and is frequently malignant. We present four cases and discuss treatment and diagnostic modalities. A comprehensive review of the literature is given. All cases were treated by resection according to oncologic principl...

INTRODUCTION Clear cell neoplasms of the jaw are very infrequent and a review of the literature reports only isolated cases of metastatic renal clear cell carcinoma of the jaw. CASE PRESENTATION A 68-year-old man presented with an osteolytic lesion of the left hemimandible. The first diagnostic hypothesis was a third molar follicular cyst. Surgical treatment consisted of enucleating the lesio...

Vulva paragangliomas are rare and usually misdiagnosed or missed diagnosed, especially those come from juvenile. We described a functional paraganglioma derived from vulva, which was misdiagnosed with clear cell carcinoma, and the vaginal wall was invaded by this mass. The patient was a 17-year-old Chinese girl. The tumor was surgical removed smoothly. The girl has been followed-up for eighteen...

The AgNOR argyrophil technique was applied to clear cut examples of renal adenoma (n = 7), clear cell carcinoma (n = 9), and xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (n = 5). There was no significant difference between mean AgNOR counts per cell in adenomas and carcinomas, supporting the idea that there is a continuous spectrum of kidney tumours. Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis and clear cell carc...
