The basic concepts of the Petri Net Baukastenn are introduced. The Petri Net Baukastenn is a Petri net technology and provides Petri net techniques. The Petri Net Baukastenn is consists of the Common Base and three diierent views, the Application Developer View, the Tool Developer View, and the Expert View. The main focus is to support the application developer and the tool developer as well as...

We propose rewriting logic as a unifying framework for a wide range of Petri nets models. We treat in detail place/transition nets and important extensions of the basic model by individual tokens, test arcs, and time. Based on the idea that “Petri nets are monoids” suggested by Meseguer and Montanari we define a rewriting semantics that maps place/transition nets into rewriting logic specificat...

The concept of a Petri net, a tool for the study of certain discrete dynamical systems, was invented in 1939 by Carl Adam Petri. In the attempt to characterize Boolean Petri nets, we discovered a subclass of Boolean Petri net called the crisp Boolean Petri net, viz. , the one that generates every binary vector as its marking vectors exactly once. In this paper, the construction of a crisp Boole...

The use of the UML specification language for modelling dynamic behaviors of systems is very widespread. UML Statecharts and Collaboration diagrams are widely used to model dynamic behaviors of systems. However, the lack of firm semantics for the UML modeling notations makes the detection of behavioral inconsistencies difficult in the initial phases of development. The use of formal methods mak...

Fault tolerance has become more and more important in the development of autonomous systems with the aim to help the system to recover its normal activities even when some failures happen. Yet, one of the concerns is how to analyze the reliability of a fault tolerance mechanism with regards to the collaboration of multiple agents to complete a complicated task. To do so, an approach of fault to...

Protos is a popular tool for business process modelling used in more than 1500 organizations. It has a built-in Petri-net-based simulation engine which shows key performance indicators for the modelled processes. Reference process models offered for Protos reduce modelling efforts by providing generic solutions which only need to be adapted to individual requirements. However, the user can neit...

secure electronic transaction (set) protocol is an open protocol, which has the potential to emerge as a powerful tool in securing of electronic transactions. the quality of a design of an ecommerce protocols has a great influence on achieving non-functional requirements (nfrs) to the system. an increasingly important non-functional attribute of complex software systems is adaptability. softwar...

There exist many diierent Petri net formalisms. In this paper, we present the Petri Net Cube which helps to structure and classify the variety of Petri net formalisms. We show, that three basic aspects are suucient for describing most classical Petri net formalisms. Since these aspects are independent of each other, we call them the Dimensions of Petri Nets.
