Abstract. We evaluate the music composer classification using an approximation of the Kolmogorov distance between different music pieces. The distance approximation has recently been suggested by Vitanyi and his colleagues. They use a clustering method to evalute the distance metric. However the clustering is too slow for large (>60) data sets. We suggest using the distance metric together with...

We reformulate Mesiar’s hypothesis [Possibility measures, integration and fuzzy possibility measures, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 92 (1997) 191196], which as such was shown to be untrue by Murofushi [Two-valued possibility measures induced by σ-finite σ-additive measures, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 126 (2002) 265268]. We prove that a two-valued σ-maxitive measure can be induced by a σ-additive measure u...

It is shown that, for any spatial frame L (i.e., L is a complete lattice generated by the set of all prime elements), both the specialization L-preorder of L-topological spaces introduced by Lai and Zhang [Fuzzy preorder and fuzzy topology, Fuzzy Sets and Systems 157 (2006) 1865–1885] and that of L-fuzzifying topological spaces introduced by Fang and Qiu [Fuzzy orders and fuzzifying topologies,...

In 2011, Mallozzi et al. [Fuzzy Sets and Systems 165(2011) 98105] introduced a core-like concept (called F-core) and a balanced-like condition for games in which the worth of any coalition is given by means of a fuzzy interval. They proved that a balanced-like condition is necessary but not sufficient enough to guarantee the F-core to be non-empty. In this paper, we study deeply on this problem...

one of the conventional methods for temporary support of tunnels is to use steel sets with shotcrete. the nature of a temporary support system demands a quick installation of its structures. as a result, the spacing between steel sets is not a fixed amount and it can be considered as a random variable. hence, in the reliability analysis of these types of structures, the selection of an appropri...

in their 2016 article, saltman and duran provide a thoughtful examination of the governance challenges involved in different care delivery models adopted in primary care and hospitals in two european countries. this commentary examines the limited potential of structural changes to achieve real reform and considers that, unless governance arrangements actually succeed in penetrating organizatio...

We propose a new qualitative spatial logic based on metric (distance) relations between spatial objects. We provide a sound and complete axiomatisation of the logic with respect to metric models. The logic is intended for use in checking consistency of matching geospatial individuals from different data sets, where some data sets may be imprecise (e.g. crowd-sourced data).

Distance measures between trees are useful for comparing trees in a systematic manner, and several different distance measures have been proposed. The triplet and quartet distances, for rooted and unrooted trees, respectively, are defined as the number of subsets of three or four leaves, respectively, where the topologies of the induced subtrees differ. These distances can trivially be computed...

The purpose of this paper is to introduce a new estimation method for estimating the Archimedean copula dependence parameter in the non-parametric setting. The estimation of the dependence parameter has been selected as the value that minimizes the Cramér-von-Mises distance which measures the distance between Empirical Bernstein Kendall distribution function and true Kendall distribution functi...
