Extraskeletal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is extremely rare and, in combination with psoriasis, it has never been described before. We report a case of wide resection of an extraskeletal chondrosarcoma of the thigh and reconstruction with a femoral megaprosthesis in a patient with psoriasis vulgaris. Special emphasis has been laid to postoperative wound healing in psoriatic skin which did not sh...
Mesenchymal chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of bone and soft tissues. An unique case is described of an 8-year-old child with a midline cerebellar lesion. Pertinent clinical and radiologic findings along with histopathologic features are described. To our knowledge, this is the first case of mesenchymal chondrosarcoma arising in the cerebellar parenchyma of a child.
Multiple enchondromatosis (Oilier's disease)' is a rare, non-hereditary condition of unknown aetiology in which cartilaginous masses are found in bones. We report a patient with Oilier's disease who presented with a parasellar syndrome due to a chondrosarcoma in the cavernous sinus. The association of Ollier's disease and intracranial cartilaginous tumours (chondrosarcoma or chondroma) is recog...
mediciNe & HeAltH/RHode islANd lAryngeAl ChondrosArComA Is A rAre relAtIVely slow-growIng tumor arising from the largyngeal cartilages. The slowly progressive nature of symptoms means that many patients will undergo multiple diagnostic studies, and recognition of the imaging characteristics of the tumor may assist significantly in diagnosis. We present a case of a laryngeal chondrosarcoma lacki...
A chondrosarcoma is a common tumor of the soft tissue and bone that has high propensity to metastasize distant organs. Nerve growth factor (NGF) capable promoting progression metastasis several different types tumors although effects NGF in are not confirmed. Here, we found levels matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) correlated with stage patients chondrosarcoma. facilitated MMP-2-dependent cellu...
The authors present a case of primary intracranial extraosseous myxoid chondrosarcoma without any attachment to the cranium or the meninges. The clinical and radiological findings of the primary intraparenchymal tumor are described with a review of the literature concerning cranial and intracranial myxoid chondrosarcoma.
Chondrosarcoma is a rare non-epithelial tumor comprising of 10-20% of primary bone tumor. The nasal septum is a rare site for its occurrence. We present one such case of chondrosarcoma of the nasal septum who was treated with endoscopic removal followed by post operative radiotherapy and discuss the relevant clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment and review the literature also.
Chondrosarcoma is a rare malignant neoplasm of the jaws. The diagnosis of this lesion is mainly based on the histopathological appearance. A case of chondrosarcoma of the maxilla is reported. The origin of this rare tumor in the maxilla, a bone with exclusive membranous ossification, is discussed.
Intracranial Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma is a very rare and uncommon entity that affects young adults. We came across one such patient who presented with severe headache and intermittent nausea and vomiting. The clinical, radiological preoperative diagnosis was a meningioma, on histological examination it turned out to be mesenchymal chondrosarcoma of tentorial region in posterior fossa, uncommo...
A 52 year old man developed an extraskeletal mesenchymal chondrosarcoma (ESMC) arising from the pleura. Clinically, the tumour mimicked a mesothelioma. Fine needle biopsy was consistent with the diagnosis of sarcomatoid mesothelioma. Histological examination of multiple tumour samples, supported by immunohistochemical characterization, made it possible to correctly diagnose extraskeletal mesenc...
