Investigators from the Mayo Clinic, Rochester Minnesota investigated the utility of three-dimensional (3D) double inversion recovery (DIR) sequences in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) detection of focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) in children and young adults with epilepsy.

Abstract Background Dirigent (DIR) proteins mediate regioselectivity and stereoselectivity during lignan biosynthesis are also involved in lignin, gossypol pterocarpan biosynthesis. This gene family plays a vital role enhancing stress resistance secondary cell-wall development, but systematical understanding is lacking cotton. Results In this study, 107 GbDIRs GhDIRs were identified Gossypium b...

We believe the paucity of massively-parallel, shared-memory machines follows from the lack of a shared-memory programming performance model that can inform programmers of the cost of operations (so they can avoid expensive ones) and can tell hardware designers which cases are common (so they can build simple hardware to optimize them). Cooperative shared memory, our approach to shared-memory de...

We describe a novel photoconversion technique to track individual cells in vivo using a commercial lipophilic membrane dye, DiR. We show that DiR exhibits a permanent fluorescence emission shift (photoconversion) after light exposure and does not reacquire the original color over time. Ratiometric imaging can be used to distinguish photoconverted from non-converted cells with high sensitivity. ...

Collections used in distributed information retrieval (DIR) are often described by unigram language models, composed of simple term-probability statistics. In most cases, this information is not directly available from constituent collections and must be estimated by the DIR tool itself from a sample of documents. Factors affecting the quality of such estimates are not well understood, and nor ...

Combined linear-Viterbi equalization (CLVE) is a technique that employs a linear prelter in conjunction with the Viterbi algorithm (VA) to mitigate the e ects of intersymbol interference. The aim of the linear prelter is to shape the original channel impulse response to some shorter desired impulse response (DIR) in order to reduce the complexity of the VA. In this paper, we present a new MSEba...

Introduction Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) is a well-known technique that allows the non-invasive acquisition of angiograms without the need of a contrast agent [1][2]. ASL angiography is still clinically underused because of several challenges [3]: ASL requires two acquisitions (labeled and non labeled dataset) thereby doubling scan time. The need of subtraction increases the sensitivity to spa...

Introduction Double Inversion Recovery (DIR) [1] and Flow Sensitive Dephasing (FSD) [2] have been used to suppress arterial signal in vessel wall imaging. However, the “black blood” effect of DIR and FSD depends on blood flow, which makes these techniques less effective with slow or in-plane flow. In this work, T1 and T2 differences between blood and vessel wall were exploited using a T2-prepar...

In standard text retrieval systems, the documents are gathered and indexed on a single server. In distributed information retrieval (DIR), the documents are held in multiple collections; answers to queries are produced by selecting the collections to query and then merging results from these collections. However, in most prior research in the area, collections are assumed to be disjoint. In thi...

Distributed enterprise search as a special case of Distributed Information Retrieval (DIR) is characterized by the need to query multiple repositories in enterprise environments. However, in DIR research there is a lack of publicly available real-world datasets for evaluation purposes. As a result, there is a gap between insights gained from simulated environments and real-world investigations ...
