The effect of applied DC potentials both in the positive and negative range, on the activity and growth of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, is discussed. In general, application of positive potentials up to +1000 mV in an acid bioleaching medium was found to be detrimental to bacterial activity, while the impression of negative potentials enhanced both their activity and growth through electrochemica...

Nanoporous FeP nanosheets are successfully synthesized via the anion-exchange reaction of inorganic-organic hybrid Fe18S25-TETAH (TETAH = protonated triethylenetetramine) nanosheets with P ions. The as-prepared nanoporous FeP nanosheets exhibit high electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction activity in acidic medium.

Ni0.9Fe0.1 alloy-supported solid oxide fuel cells with NiTiO3 (NTO) infiltrated into the cell support from 0 to 4 wt.% are prepared and investigated for CH4 steam reforming activity and electrochemical performance. The infiltrated NiTiO3 is reduced to TiO2-supported Ni particles in H2 at 650 °C. The reforming activity of the Ni0.9Fe0.1-support is increased by the presence of the TiO2-supported ...

We have developed a new procedure for fabricating interdigitated array gold electrodes (Au-IDA) modified with reduced graphene oxide (rGO). In this procedure, we coated the gold surface of the micrometer order electrodes with graphene oxide (GO) prior to the reduction and the lift-off processes to avoid short-circuiting the pair of electrodes by conductive rGO flakes after the reduction. We t...

Electrical stimulation of nerve tissue and recording of neural electrical activity are the basis of emerging prostheses and treatments for spinal cord injury, stroke, sensory deficits, and neurological disorders. An understanding of the electrochemical mechanisms underlying the behavior of neural stimulation and recording electrodes is important for the development of chronically implanted devi...

A facile preparation of polypyrrole-modified fullerene supported Pd nanoparticles catalyst is introduced; electrochemical measurements demonstrate that the obtained Pd/ppy-C(60) catalyst shows a good electrocatalytic activity and stability for the oxidation of formic acid.

Here we report a spectroscopic, electrochemical and computational study of cytochrome c showing that nitration of Tyr74 induces Tyr deprotonation, which is coupled to Met/Lys axial ligand exchange, and results in concomitant gain of peroxidatic activity at physiological pH.

The self-discharge of hybrid electrochemical capacitors based on the redox activity of electrolyte additives or grafted species to the electrode material is investigated simultaneously for the cell and each individual electrode. Electrochemical capacitors using a redox-active electrolyte consisting in hydroquinone added to the electrolyte solution and a redox-active electrode based on anthraqui...

This paper deals with the development of an electrochemical sensor base on Trypan Blue (TB) towards the determination of Dopamine (DA). An electrochemical sensor was fabricated by the electropolymerization of TB onto the Carbon paste electrode (CPE) using cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique. The polymerized TB modified CPE (Poly(TB)MCPE) was characterized using Electrochemical impedance spectrosc...
