Esterase activity of resistant and susceptible H. armigera were compared in gels with different substrate such as naphthyl acetate, naphthyl phosphate, paraoxon and monocrotophos. Whole body extract of resistant H. armigera hydrolyzed paraoxon, monocrotophos and naphthyl phosphate in gels. Resistant H. armigera showed high esterase, phosphatase and paraoxon hydrolase activity compared to suscep...

For 422 male patients with symptoms indicative of a urinary tract infection, nitrite and leukocyte esterase activity dipstick test results were compared with results of culture of urine samples. The positive predictive value of a positive nitrite test result was 96%. Addition of results of the leukocyte esterase test did not improve the diagnostic accuracy of the nitrite test.

Contractions induced by TAME-esterase on rat aorta strips mounted in vitro were significantly inhibited in presence of Vitamin C. The work lends support to the role of ascorbic acid in preventing endothelial dysfunction through release of nitric oxide. It is suggested that conclusions TAME-esterase could be an important biological marker associated with onset of vascular discases such as hypert...

We have expressed the murine coronavirus haemagglutinin-esterase protein in a vaccinia virus/T7 RNA polymerase system. The levels of expression observed are significantly higher than those found in virus-infected cells. The expressed protein has both receptor-destroying (esterase) and receptor-binding (haemadsorption) activities. The use of this system will greatly facilitate analysis of the st...

A novel esterase was identified through functional screening of a metagenomic library in Escherichia coli obtained from Antarctic desert soil. The 297-amino-acid sequence had only low (<29%) similarity to a putative esterase from Burkholderia xenovorans. The enzyme was active over a temperature range of 7 to 54 degrees C and at alkaline pH levels and is a potential candidate for industrial appl...

N.N. Kavtsevich Murmansk marine biological institute KSC RAS, 17, Vladimirskaya str., Murmansk, 183010, Staining of bottle-nosed dolphin lymphocytes by nonspecific esterase stain and E-rosette test were performed. 35.4 % of lymphocytes were simultaneously E-rosetted and NE positive. They are apparently, mature T-cells. On the size and shape of esterase-positive granules at least 2 subpopulation...
