We introduce the concept of Frobenius theory as a generalisation of Lawvere’s functorial semantics approach to categorical universal algebra. Whereas the universe for models of Lawvere theories is the category of sets and functions, or more generally cartesian categories, Frobenius theories take their models in the category of sets and relations, or more generally in cartesian bicategories.
Every finite dimensional Hopf algebra is a Frobenius algebra, with Frobenius homomorphism given by an integral. The Nakayama automorphism determined by it yields a decomposition with degrees in a cyclic group. For a family of pointed Hopf algebras, we determine necessary and sufficient conditions for this decomposition to be strongly graded.
We introduce the notion of alternate product of Frobenius manifolds and we give, after [2], an interpretation of the Frobenius manifold structure canonically attached to the quantum cohomology of G(r, n + 1) in terms of alternate products. We also investigate the relationship with the alternate Thom-Sebastiani product of Laurent polynomials.
We discuss the characterization of chaotic behaviours in random maps both in terms of the Lyapunov exponent and of the spectral properties of the Perron-Frobenius operator. In particular, we study a logistic map where the control parameter is extracted at random at each time step by considering nite dimensional approximation of the Perron-Frobenius operator.
Necessary and sufficient conditions for some deformation algebras to provide formal Frobenius structures are given. Also, examples of formal Frobenius structures with fundamental tensor that is not of the deformation type and examples of symmetric non-metric connections are presented. 2000 Math. Representation theory was created by Frobenius about 100 years ago. We describe the background that led to the problem which motivated Frobenius to define characters of a finite group and show how representation theory solves the problem. The first results about representation theory in characteristic p are also discussed.
In the paper, the authors view some ordinary differential equations and their solutions from the angle of (the generalized) derivative polynomials and simplify some known identities for the Bernoulli numbers and polynomials, the Frobenius-Euler polynomials, the Euler numbers and polynomials, in terms of the Stirling numbers of the first and second kinds.
In §1 we use COO-vector methods, essentially Frobenius reciprocity, to derive the Howe-Richardson multiplicity formula for compact nilmanifolds. In §2 we use Frobenius reciprocity to generalize and considerably simplify a reduction procedure developed by Howe for solvable groups to general extensions of nilpotent Lie groups. In §3 we give an application of the previous results to obtain a reduc...
We study a special sort of 2-dimensional extended Topological Quantum Field Theories (TQFTs). These are defined on open-closed cobordisms by which we mean smooth compact oriented 2-manifolds with corners that have a particular global structure in order to model the smooth topology of open and closed string worldsheets. We show that the category of open-closed TQFTs is equivalent to the category...
In this paper, as a main theorem, we prove that the decision version of the Frobenius problem is Σ2 -complete under Karp reductions. Given a finite set A of coprime positive integers, we call the greatest integer that cannot be represented as a nonnegative integer combination of A the Frobenius number, and we denote it as g(A). We call a problem of finding g(A) for a given A the Frobenius probl...
