Early vision algorithms often have a first stage of linear-filtering that 'extracts' from the image information at multiple scales of resolution and multiple orientations. A common difficulty in the design and implementation of such schemes is that one feels compelled to discretize coarsely the space of scales and orientations in order to reduce computation and storage costs. This discretizatio...

In this paper we study the geometry of 14 families K3 surfaces Picard number four with finite automorphism group, whose Neron—Severi lattices have been classified by È. B. Vinberg. We provide projective models, identify degrees a generating set Cox ring and in some cases prove unirationality associated moduli space.

In this paper, we introduce a new class of generalized extended Laguerre-based Apostol-type-Bernoulli, Apostol-type-Euler and Apostoltype-Genocchi polynomials. These Apostol type polynomials are used to connect Fubini-Hermite Bell-Hermite find representations. We derive some implicit summation formulae symmetric identities for these families special functions by applying the generating functions.

I test for welfare-induced migration by comparing AFDC participation in border counties to interior counties in the same state. If migration costs are lower for border county residents, border counties on the high-benefit side of a state border should have higher welfare participation relative to the state's interior counties. Border counties on the low-benefit side should have lower welfare pa...

The genome projects have unearthed an enormous diversity of genes of unknown function that are still awaiting biological and biochemical characterization. These genes, as most others, can be grouped into families based on sequence similarity. The PFAM database currently contains over 2,200 such families, referred to as domains of unknown function (DUF). In a coordinated effort, the four large-s...

The authors explore how to define a welfare spell and how well surveys measure welfare spells. By comparing survey and administrative data from the Work Pays Demonstration Project in California on the receipt of Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC), they find that a substantial amount of administrative churning occurs in administrative data. Through a mixing model of several break len...

We characterize, under some technical assumptions and up to a conjecture, probability distributions of finite all order moments with ultraspherical type generating functions for orthogonal polynomials. Our method is based on differential equations and the obtained measures are particular Beta distributions. We actually recover the free Meixner family of probability distributions so that our met...

Guttmann and Enting [Phys. Rev. Lett. 76 (1996) 344–347] proposed the examination of anisotropic generating functions as a test of the solvability of models of bond animals. In this article we describe a technique for examining some properties of anisotropic generating functions. For a wide range of solved and unsolved families of bond animals, we show that the coefficients of yn is rational, t...

Developing product families has been recognized as an effective means to support Mass Customization Manufacturing (MCM). A Product Family Architecture (PFA) resembles the underpinning logiC'of assisting customers to converge to what a firm can deliver in terms of its capabilities and capacities. The representation of a PFA is essential for managing variety effectively across the entire product ...
