In this paper we show how design-level aspects can be used to encapsulate security concerns that can be woven into models of software designs. The aspect-oriented design technique described in this paper allows one to analyze the impact of security concerns on other functional concerns. We illustrate our technique using a small example.

This paper develops and investigates a framework for the assessment of customer involvement in the service design process of result oriented product-service systems in order to improve the service offering in a business-to-business (B2B) context. The framework comprises five main criteria and fifteen sub-criteria that contribute to customer involvement in a hierarchy using a maturity grid to hi...

It is increasingly recognized that human, social, and political factors have a signi"cant impact on software systems design. To address this, ethnographic studies of work have been used to inform the systems design process, especially in cooperative work settings where systems support several users working together. Based on our experience of these studies, we have investigated the integration ...

A key problem facing engineering companies is the capture, control and recall of product design information from design and manufacturing staff. A solution to the problem proposed in this paper is the integration of design schematic diagrams with all other design documentation into a system of product books. This system unifies the many editors and computer tools used by engineering and ancilla...

In a manufacturing system (MS), a wide range of human activities are applied in production processes. The human factor plays a core role and should be incorporated into the design, planning and decision making processes. In this work we describe different definitions, developments and existing concepts of a Virtual Factory (VF) and discuss VFs from the human oriented point of view. Furthermore,...
