Agencies at the federal, state and local level are aiming to enhance the public transportation system (PTS) as one alternative to alleviate congestion and to cater to the needs of captive riders. To effectively act as a viable alternative transportation mode, the system must be highly efficient. One way to measure efficiency of the PTS is connectivity. In a multimodal transportation system, tra...

We used event-related potentials (ERPs) and gamma band oscillatory responses (GBRs) to examine whether intermodal attention operates early in the auditory, visual, and tactile modalities. To control for the effects of spatial attention, we spatially coregistered all stimuli and varied the attended modality across counterbalanced blocks in an intermodal selection task. In each block, participant...

We investigate the stability of optical solitons in few-mode fibers by solving numerically coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations that include intermodal nonlinear coupling. While a single fundamental soliton propagating in any fiber mode is stable, simultaneous propagation of two or more solitons in different fiber modes is not always stable and leads to interesting effects resulting from int...

Background: Finding trends in freight transportation activities enables businesses and policy makers to build an understanding of patterns their impact on logistics planning when making investments a region’s infrastructure intermodal transport system. To the best our knowledge, there is limited literature data-driven analysis about mode choices influencing factors Atlantic Canada. Methods: In ...

Possibility of description of the glass transition in terms of critical dynamics considering a hierarchy of the intermodal relaxation time is shown. The generalized Vogel-Fulcher law for the system relaxation time is derived in terms of this approach. It is shown that the system satisfies the fluctuating–dissipative theorem in case of the absence of the intermodal relaxation time hierarchy.

Container terminals are essential intermodal interfaces in the global transportation network. Efficient container handling at terminals is important in reducing transportation costs and keeping shipping schedules. In this paper, we study the storage space allocation problem in the storage yards of terminals. This problem is related to all the resources in terminal operations, including quay cra...

The purpose of this study was to determine the range of optimum intermodal delay values for coordinated auditory and haptic reproduction of brief impact events. Indirect psychophysical methods were used to find the intermodal delay that would be most likely to generate the response of perceived synchrony between acoustic and structural vibration components of those events. A recording of a repr...
