Background. There has been a continuous increase in the participation of female athletes in “masculine” sports competitions and this is in line with the amplifying debate of whether this activity is appropriate for women in Indonesia. Objectives. This study aims to determine womenchr('39')s athletic motives for participating in "masculine" sports and their relationship with the incidence of dy...

We show that greedy left-to-right (right-to-left) parsing is optimal w.r.t. a suux (preex) dictionary. To exploit this observation, we show how to construct a static suux dictionary that supports on-line, linear-time optimal parsing. From this we derive an adaptive on-line method that yields compression comparing favorably to LZW.

Off-line foveation is a technique to improve the compression efficiency of digitized video. The general idea behind off-line foveation is to blur video regions where no, or a small number of previewers look without decreasing the subjective quality for later viewers. It relies on the fact that peripheral vision is degraded compared to central vision, and the observation that during freeviewing ...

This paper proposes on-line electrocardiogram (ECG) lossless data compression based on antidictionaries. An antidictionary is the set of all words of minimal length that never appear in the string. The proposed methods use the coders constructed by a training sequence of constant length of ECG, so that they work with an on-line manner in constant computational space. Their effectiveness is demo...

Straight-line programs (SLPs) offer powerful text compression by representing a text T [1, u] in terms of a restricted context-free grammar of n rules, so that T can be recovered in O(u) time. However, the problem of operating the grammar in compressed form has not been studied much. We present a grammar representation whose size is of the same order of that of a plain SLP representation, and c...

In image-based rendering applications, images of a scene are captured along a specific camera trajectory and are then used to render new views of the scene. In this paper, we first study several possible camera trajectories and analyze their pros and cons. Then we introduce the line space which is a representation of light rays and use it to analyze a number of implementation issues in image-ba...

Subacromial impingement syndrome (SIS) represents a spectrum of pathology ranging from subacromial bursitis to rotator cuff tendinopathy and full-thickness rotator cuff tears. The relationship between subacromial impingement and rotator cuff disease in the etiology of rotator cuff injury is a matter of debate. Both extrinsic compression and intrinsic degeneration may play a role. Management inc...

Compression can be achieved by exploiting knowledge both internal and external to a given image or video source. In this paper, we present means for generating and exploiting the specific external knowledge of a 3D stereoscopic depth map of the given scene to compress the given monoscopic source. Several instances in which the depth map can potentially increase compression or provide improved f...
