This paper outlines an approach to optical feedforward linearisation technique to reduce nonlinear distortion generated by a directly modulated semiconductor laser diode for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) operating in the Industrial Scientific -Medical (ISM) band 2.4 GHz (IEEE802.11b) for Radio over Fibre (RoF). Various linearization techniques are reviewed. Results with feedforward lineari...

We describe an approach to constructing an all-CMOS wireless transceiver capable of transmission speeds of up to 30 Mb/s in the 2.4 GHz ISM band. To achieve robust high bandwidth efficiency communications, the design includes such features as a four element antenna array, adaptive equalization, multi-level QAM transmission, variable baud rates, frequency hopping, and adjustable transmission pow...

Multiple Bluetooth piconets operating in the globally available 2.4-GHz Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) band are likely to co-exist in a physical environment, supporting applications such as wireless earphones, keyboards etc. An independently operating Bluetooth piconet will inevitably encounter the interference from collocated piconets, which results in individual piconet as well as o...

Millimeter-wave 5G mobile architectures need to consolidate disparate frequency bands into a single, multifunctional array. Existing arrays are either narrow-band, prohibitively expensive or cannot be scaled to these frequencies. In this paper, we present the first ultra-wideband millimeterwave array to operate across six 5G and ISM bands spanning 24–71 GHz. Importantly, the array is realized u...

Bluetooth is a wireless technology that enables devices to communicate in the 2.4 GHz industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) license free frequency band. Bluetooth avoid the interference by using a frequency hopping (FH) spread spectrum technology with hop rate of 1600 hops per second. This paper studies schemes to avoid local interference observed by the devices. It tries to come up with a ...

The paper presents a versatile technique of the construction of multivariate models of interresonator couplings. These models are based on results of electromagnetic simulations and can be used for fast synthesis of coupled resonator filters with complex geometry (like combline or dielectric resonators filters). To demonstrate the usefulness of the models, an example of synthesis of filter in t...

This paper presents a CMOS RF receiver frontend suitable for ultra-low-power operation. In order to achieve desired gain and linearity of receiver front-end at a 1V supply voltage, current reuse and optimum gate biasing techniques are employed. The proposed architecture includes merged LNA and mixer, operating in the sub-threshold region, and designed for the 902-928MHz ISM band. The proposed c...

We present V-band light curves of 61 variables from the core of the globular cluster M5 obtained using a newly developed image subtraction method (ISM). Four of these variables were previously unknown. Only 26 variables were found in the same field using photometry obtained with DoPHOT software. Fourier parameters of the ISM light curves have relative errors up to 20 times smaller than paramete...

In this demonstration, we present a prototype of a crosstechnology communication (CTC) system that allows a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) device to directly send data to a Wi-Fi device using commodity hardware. Towards this goal, we use energy burst patterns to encode information on overlapping channel frequencies. With this demonstration, we prove the feasibility of our holistic CTC approach for ...

A novel miniature wideband rectangular patch antenna is designed for wireless local area network (WLANs) applications and operating for 5-6 GHz ISM band, and wideband applications. The proposed antenna gives a bandwidth of 4.84 to 6.56 GHz for S11<-10dB. The antenna has the dimensions of 20 mm by 15 mm by 0.8 mm on FR4 substrate. Rectangular slot and step have been used for bandwidth improvement.
