We model with numerical algorithms the dynamical processes that possibly lead to the trapping of Jupiter’s Trojans from a primordial population of planetesimals orbiting nearby a proto-Jupiter. The predictions of models based on mutual planetesimal collisions and on the mass growth of Jupiter are compared with observations. In particular, we concentrate on the distribution of the libration ampl...
A planet orbiting in a disk of planetesimals can experience an instability in which it migrates to smaller orbital radii. Resonant interactions between the planet and planetesimals remove angular momentum from the planetesimals, increasing their eccentricities. Subsequently, the planetesimals either collide with or are ejected by the planet, reducing the semimajor axis of the planet. If the sur...
Using the clathrate hydrates trapping theory, we discuss the enrichments in volatiles in the atmosphere of Jupiter measured by the Galileo probe in the framework of new extended core-accretion planet formation models including migration and disk evolution. We construct a self-consistent model in which the volatile content of planetesimals accreted during the formation of Jupiter is calculated f...

We review the interior structure and evolution of Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune, and extrasolar giant planets with particular emphasis on constraining their global composition.
We have determined the relativistic light deflection of the quasar J0842+1835 as Jupiter passed within 3.7 on 2002 September 8, by measuring the time delay using the VLBA and Effelsberg radio telescopes at 8.4 GHz. At closest approach, General Relativity (GR) predicts a radial (static) deflection of 1190 μarcsec, and tangential (retarded or dynamic) deflection in the direction of Jupiter’s moti...
We report the discovery of a planet transiting a moderately bright (V = 12.00) G star, with an orbital period of 2.788491± 0.000025 days. From the transit light curve we determine that the radius of the planet is Rp = 1.257± 0.053RJup. HAT-P-5b has a mass of Mp = 1.06± 0.11MJup, similar to the average mass of previously-known transiting exoplanets, and a density of ρp = 0.66± 0.11 g cm. We find...
We measure the sky-projected stellar obliquities (λ) in the multiple-transiting planetary systems KOI-94 and Kepler-25, using the Rossiter-McLaughlin effect. In both cases the host stars are well-aligned with the orbital planes of the planets. For KOI-94 we find λ = −11±11◦, confirming a recent result by Hirano and coworkers. Kepler-25 was a more challenging case because the transit depth is un...
Context. More than 10 000 Jupiter Trojans have been detected so far. They are moving around the L4 and L5 triangular Lagrangian points of Sun-Jupiter system their distributions can provide important clues about early evolution Solar System. Aims. The number asymmetry is a longstanding problem. We aim to test new mechanism in order explain this anomalous feature by invoking jumping-Jupiter scena...
