This note details recent measurements of the top mass and cross section that have been performed at the Tevatron. Most of these measurements have been performed with between 1.0 and 2.0 fb of data. Basic top physics concepts are discussed, cross section and mass analysis methods and results are presented, and future analysis prospects are discussed with a special attention given to Electroweak ...

The search for the electroweak production of top quarks is entering an exciting time: with the ever increasing luminosity furnished by the Tevatron pp̄ Collider at Fermilab and sophisticated analysis techniques we are now able to approach the expected standard model production cross section for this new mode of production. Using 370 pb of DØ data and likelihoods as discriminants to extract the s...

Externally bonded composites reinforcedwith high-strength fibers are increasingly popular in construction, especially in structures’ strengthening, where the best possible mechanical properties are required. At the same time the ability to autodetect threats is one of the most desirable features of contemporary structures. The authors of the paper have developed an intelligent fabric, wherein t...

As a future upgrade of the Frascati φ factory DAΦNE an increase of the center-of-mass energy of the accelerator up to W = 2 GeV has been proposed (DAFNE2). In this case the hadronic cross section in the energy range between 1−2 GeV can be measured with the KLOE detector. The feasibility of these measurements and the impact on the hadronic contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muo...

T paper proposes a generalized measure of riskiness that nests the original measures pioneered by Aumann and Serrano (Aumann, R. J., R. Serrano. 2008. An economic index of riskiness. J. Political Econom. 116(5) 810–836) and Foster and Hart (Foster, D. P., S. Hart. 2009. An operational measure of riskiness. J. Political Econom. 117(5) 785–814). The paper introduces the generalized options’ impli...

I discuss soft-gluon corrections in hard-scattering processes and their re-summation. I present master formulas for the expansion of the resummed cross section through NNNLO and discuss the significance of these corrections in a number of processes.

We combine six measurements of the top-antitop (tt̄) production cross section (σtt̄) based on data collected by the CDF and D0 detectors at the Fermilab Tevatron. The datasets correspond to integrated luminosities of up to 8.8 fb. We obtain a value of σtt̄ = 7.65 ± 0.42 pb for a top-quark mass mt = 172.5 GeV/c. The contributions to the uncertainty correspond to 0.20 pb from statistical sources, 0....
