Abstract We show that the sequence of moments order less than 1 averages i.i.d. positive random variables is log-concave. For at least 1, we conjecture log-convex and this holds eventually for integer (after neglecting first $p^2$ terms sequence).

We show that the modified log-Sobolev constant for a natural Markov chain which converges to an $r$-homogeneous strongly log-concave distribution is at least $1/r$. Applications include sharp mixing time bound bases-exchange walk matroids, and concentration Lipschitz functions over these distributions.

Abstract Horizontal and vertical generating functions recursion relations have been investigated by Comtet for triangular double sequences. In this paper we investigate the horizontal log-concavity of sequences assigned to polynomials which show up in combinatorics, number theory physics. This includes Laguerre polynomials, Pochhammer D’Arcais Nekrasov–Okounkov polynomials.
