In this paper we study the concept of Latin-majorizati-\on. Geometrically this concept is different from other kinds of majorization in some aspects. Since the set of all $x$s Latin-majorized by a fixed $y$ is not convex, but, consists of union of finitely many convex sets. Next, we hint to linear preservers of Latin-majorization on $ mathbb{R}^{n}$ and ${M_{n,m}}$.
Although spanning thousands of years and genres as diverse as liturgy, historiography, lyric and other forms of prose and poetry, the body of Latin texts is still relatively sparse compared to English. Data sparsity in Latin presents a number of challenges for traditional Named Entity Recognition techniques. Solving such challenges and enabling reliable Named Entity Recognition in Latin texts c...
with the introduction of communicative language teaching, a large number of studies have concerned with students’ oral participation in language classrooms. although the importance of classroom participation is evident, some language learners are unwilling to engage in oral activities. this passivity and unwillingness to participate in language classroom discussions is known as “reticence”. rev...
Since the mid nineteen nineties most Latin American nations have implemented free market policies. The ensuing economic stability has attracted investment from non-Latin corporations, thereby causing the transfer of non-Latin executives to Latin nations. For many of these executives, their Latin assignments include an unexpected challenge: Dealing with Latin America’s subtle but pervasive racis...
This qualitative study examined concept formation of Latin prefixes in three students diagnosed with learning disabilities through a theme-based analysis. The study had two purposes. Conceptual processes underlying the learning of Latin prefixes were explored through dynamic assessment and Vygotsky’s stages of concept formation were empirically tested. There were five major findings in this stu...
Small-scale and household low-cost technologies to provide water free of arsenic for drinking purposes, suitable for isolated rural and periurban areas not connected to water networks in Latin America are described. Some of them are merely adaptation of conventional technologies already used at large and medium scale, but others are environmentally friendly emerging procedures that use local ma...
The useful lifespan of hydroelectric power infrastructure is 50 years or more; this is long enough that long-term climate change and shorter-term climate variability should be considered when planning new facilities and maintaining existing ones. This study examines observed historical climate variability in Southeast, Alaska, where several new and expanded hydropower facilities are proposed. A...
The prevalence of psychiatric conditions among prisoners in Latin America is greatly underestimated, and because of the lack of awareness about mental illness among service providers in Latin American prisons, oftentimes these conditions go unrecognized or are not treated properly. In the worst-case scenarios, human rights violations occur. Despite the high levels of need, many prisoners have n...
We present an overview of the theory of self-distributive quasigroups, both in the two-sided and one-sided cases, and relate the older results to the modern theory of quandles, to which self-distributive quasigroups are a special case. Most attention is paid to the representation results (loop isotopy, linear representation, homogeneous representation), as the main tool to investigate self-dist...
