Manipulating structure, defects and composition of a material at the atomic scale for enhancing its physical or mechanical properties is referred to as nanostructuring. Here, by combining advanced microscopy techniques, we unveil how formation of highly regular nano-arrays of nanoparticles doubles the strength of an Fe-based alloy, doped with Ti, Mo, and V, from 500 MPa to 1 GPa, upon prolonged...
Preparation and characterization of carbonyl iron/poly(butylcyanoacrylate) core/shell nanoparticles.
In this article a method is described to prepare composite colloidal nanoparticles, consisting of a magnetic core (carbonyl iron) and a biodegradable polymeric shell [poly(butylcyanoacrylate) or PBCA]. The method is based on the so-called anionic polymerization procedure, often used in the synthesis of poly(alkylcyanoacrylate) nanospheres designed for drug delivery. Interest of this investigati...
Magnetic nanoparticles based on iron and its oxides are promising in various biomedical applications. Currently, as a rule, ferromagnetic oxide particles with low specific magnetic moment used for medical purposes. In the present work, new method synthesis of electric explosion Fe wire is proposed. When wires dispersed by high current pulse an inert atmosphere containing less than 5% oxygen, co...

Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were applied for selective enrichment of proteins in MALDI-TOF MS analysis for the first time. MIPs were achieved simply via immobilization of template lysozyme (Lyz) on core-shell magnetic nanoparticles and self-polymerization of dopamine (DA).
A novel thermoresponsive snaptop for stimulated cargo release from superparamagnetic iron oxide core - mesoporous silica shell nanoparticles based on a [2 + 4] cycloreversion reaction (retro-Diels Alder reaction) is presented. The non-invasive external actuation through alternating magnetic fields makes this material a promising candidate for future applications in externally triggered drug del...
We report the synthesis of ultrafine S nanoparticles with diameter 10 ~ 20 nm via a membrane-assisted precipitation technique. The S nanoparticles were then coated with conducting poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) to form S/PEDOT core/shell nanoparticles. The ultrasmall size of S nanoparticles facilitates the electrical conduction and improves sulfur utilization. The encapsulation of co...
Micelles composed of a novel weakly cationic poly(amino acid)s shell and clustered magnetite nanoparticles as a core were prepared and evaluated as a potent MR imaging contrast agent based on their superior physicochemical and magnetic properties and the effective MR imaging of cancer in vitro and in vivo.
Monodisperse multifunctional MnFe2O4/dye/silica core/shell nanoparticles have been designed and developed. The magnetic cores act as nano-heaters in biological systems under RF field excitation and the encapsulated dyes work as local temperature probes. The silica shells enable the water-solubility and biocompatibility of the NPs and protect the encapsulated fluorophores from photobleaching.
Nanocomposite microcapsules with both gold and magnetite nanoparticles in the shell were prepared in a layer-by-layer procedure using biocompatible polyelectrolytes and nanoparticles. The process of a nanocomposite multilayer formation was investigated using a quartz crystal microbalance (QCM). In addition, nanocomposite microcapsules were characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmi...
