Iron tetrasulfophthalocyanine (FePcS) has been irreversibly inserted into nanocages of the metal organic framework MIL-101 to give a hybrid material FePcS/MIL-101 which demonstrated a superior catalytic performance in the selective oxidation of aromatic substrates with (t)BuOOH than homogeneous FePcS.

The novel signal peptide SLPmod was used for the secretion of murine interleukin-12 (mIL-12) by Lactococcus lactis. A >4-fold increase in secretion was observed when SLPmod was used instead of the Usp45-derived secretion signal. Oral delivery of this cytokine using the autoinducible host L. lactis FI5876 utilizing SLPmod resulted in a significant increase in mIL-12 plasma levels in mice.

A quantitatively major protein has been purified from the latex of Morus indica. The purified previously uncharacterized protein, M. indica lectin (MIL), was further shown to be a glycosylated tetramer and belongs to the family of jacalin-related lectins. Crystallization of MIL was also accomplished and the tetragonal crystals diffracted synchrotron X-rays to a resolution of 2.8 Å.

A polymerase chain reaction (PCR) buffer was systematically designed to relieve the inhibition caused by hydrophobic magnetic ionic liquids (MILs). We describe a simple, rapid method for MIL-based plasmid DNA extraction from crude bacterial cell lysate in which DNA-enriched MIL is transferred directly to a PCR tube for analysis.

A very high catalytic activity in the cyanosilylation reaction was observed for MIL-101, a chromium based metal-organic framework; moreover, MIL-101 is also a remarkably stable support for palladium in hydrogenation reactions, with significantly higher activity than e.g. palladium on activated carbon.

An organic imidazolium salt of terephthalic acid has been utilized as a linker precursor for the synthesis of an aluminum-based metal organic framework (MOF) with MIL-53(ht) structure. This material shows the predicted porosity in terms of nitrogen and hydrogen sorption without exhibiting the breathing effect typical for MIL-53(Al) materials.

Low-pressure high-resolution hydrogen adsorption for the metal-organic framework MIL-101 are measured at 19.5 K and pressures below 57 kPa. The BET specific surface area and micropore volume are determined and compared to results from nitrogen adsorption at 77 K. Steps in the hydrogen adsorption isotherm are correlated to the pore structure of MIL-101.

IL-12 can promote Th1 responses, and early administration of IL-12 during immunization was shown to enhance expression of autoimmune collagen-induced arthritis (CIA). We now studied the impact of IL-12 at the stage of disease expression and during established CIA in DBA-1 mice. Accelerated onset and enhanced severity were provoked when i.p. injections of 100 ng of murine IL-12 (mIL-12) were giv...

Interleukin 21 (IL-21) is a novel type I cytokine that is significantly homologous to IL-2, IL-4 and IL-15. Its receptor complex contains gammac chain which is also a component of receptors for IL-2, IL-4, IL-7, IL-9 and IL-15, so there may be overlapping or relevancies in their biological functions. IL-21 is capable of co-stimulating mature T cells, B cells, NK cells, and of stimulating CD16 e...
