For practical wireless DS-CDMA systems, channel estimation is imperfect due to noise and interference. In this paper, the impact of channel estimation errors on multiuser detection (MUD) is analyzed under the framework of the replica method. System performance is obtained in the large system limit for optimal MUD, linear MUD and turbo MUD, and is validated by numerical results for finite systems.

Detecting mud hazards is a significant challenge to UGV autonomous off-road navigation. A military UGV stuck in a mud body during a mission may need to be sacrificed or rescued, both unattractive options. JPL is currently developing a daytime mud detection capability under the RCTA program using UGV mounted sensors. To perform robust mud detection under all conditions, we expect multiple sensor...

Drosophila neuroblasts divide asymmetrically by aligning their mitotic spindle with cortical cell polarity to generate distinct sibling cell types. Neuroblasts asymmetrically localize G i, Pins, and Mud proteins; Pins/G i direct cortical polarity, whereas Mud is required for spindle orientation. It is currently unknown how G i–Pins–Mud binding is regulated to link cortical polarity with spindle...

the geothermal phenomena in the area nearby the euganean hills (near padua, in italy) areknown and exploited for therapeutic purposes since ancient times, and recently also for aesthetic purposes.this paper presents the first characterization of the radionuclides content in the euganean thermal waters and mud, extended to a great number of spas. in particular the radionuclides content of both t...

The eruptive activity at the neighbouring Hawaiian volcanoes, Kı̄lauea and Mauna Loa, is thought to be linked1–3, despite both having separate lithosphericmagmatic plumbing systems. Over the past century, activity at the two volcanoes has been anti-correlated, which could reflect a competition for the same magma supply1,2. Yet, during the past decade Kı̄lauea and Mauna Loa have inflated simultane...

Environmental dusts settle on surfaces and influence the performance of concentrated solar energy harvesting devices, such as aluminum troughs. The characteristics of environmental dust and the effects of mud formed from the dust particles as a result of water condensing in humid air conditions on an aluminum wafer surface are examined. The dissolution of alkaline and alkaline earth compounds i...

A cold methane seep was discovered in a forearc sediment basin off the island Sumatra, exhibiting a methane-seep adapted microbial community. A defined seep center of activity, like in mud volcanoes, was not discovered. The seep area was rather characterized by a patchy distribution of active spots. The relevance of anaerobic oxidation of methane (AOM) was reflected by (13)C-depleted isotopic s...

cmc polymer is used as an additive to decrease water loss and mud-cake-thickness in mud drilling. in this study, the effect of cmc and cmc nanoparticles on water loss and mud-cake-thickness in mud drilling is investigated. cmc nanoparticles are made by using of ball milling and their size is measured by particle size analyzer. cmc and cmc nanoparticles which were prepared by hamilton batch mixe...

Bacterial and archaeal communities in sediments obtained from three geographically-distant mud volcanoes, a control site and a microbial mat in the Eastern Mediterranean deep-sea were characterized using direct 16S rRNA gene analyses. The data were thus in relation to the chemical characteristics of the (stratified) habitats to infer community structure-habitat relationships. The bacterial sequ...
