PURPOSE To demonstrate histochemically the cellular distribution of particulate glycogen in the cat retina and to correlate it with glucose sensitivity of neuronal electrical activities. METHODS Free-floating, ultrathin sections of cat eyes (without glucose challenges) were stained by the periodic acid-thiocarbohydrazide-silver proteinate procedure and examined by electron microscopy. RESUL...

We suggest that extending Muller games with preference ordering for players is a natural way to reason about unbounded duration games. In this context, we look at the standard solution concept of Nash equilibrium for non-zero sum games. We show that Nash equilibria always exists for such generalised Muller games on finite graphs and present a procedure to compute an equilibrium strategy profile...

In this study 160 samples of snails belonging to the species Helix aspersa maxima and Helix aspersa muller were examined for chemical and microbiological analysis. Samples came from Greece and Poland. Results showed mean concentration of cadmium (0.35±0.036 mg/kg) and lead (0.05±0.013 mg/kg) much higher than the limit of detection. Mercury levels in both species were not detected. Microbiologic...

The Muller-Satterthwaite theorem states that social choice functions that satisfy unanimity and monotonicity are also dictatorial. Unlike Arrow’s theorem, it does not assume that the function produces a transitive social ordering. Wilson showed that a voting process under Arrow’s conditions can be interpreted as a strong and proper simple game—as defined by von Neumann and Morgenstern. We show ...

“Extremely direct” is the essence of Bob Muller’s signature style. His journey toward his intensive focused study of place cells was anything but direct, veering from experimental psychology through membrane biophysics and ending in the temporal lobe. Bob was a New Yorker. Born in Queens in 1942, he went through New York City public schools, Stuyvesant High School (where he was classmate of Lyn...

Finding explicit extractors is an important derandomization goal that has received a lot of attention in the past decade. This research has focused on two approaches, one related to hashing and the other to pseudorandom generators. A third view, regarding extractors as good error correcting codes, was noticed before. Yet, researchers had failed to build extractors directly from a good code, wit...
