When exposed to corrosive anodic electrochemical environments, Pt alloy nanoparticles (NPs) undergo selective dissolution of the less noble component, resulting in catalytically active bimetallic Pt-rich core-shell structures. Structural evolution of PtNi6 and PtNi3 NP catalysts during their electrochemical activation and catalysis was studied by in situ anomalous small-angle X-ray scattering t...

A density functional theory (DFT) study has been carried out on transition metal phosphates with olivine structure and formula LiMPO4 (M = Fe, Mn, Co, Ni) to assess their potential as cathode materials in rechargeable Li-ion batteries based on their chemical and structural stability and high theoretical capacity. The investigation focuses on LiMnPO4, which could offer an improved cell potential...

The charge transport properties of thin films of sol-gel processed undoped and Al-doped zinc oxide nanoparticles with variable doping level between 0.8 and 10 at.% were investigated. The x-ray diffraction studies revealed a decrease of the average crystallite sizes in highly doped samples. We provide estimates of the conductivity and the resulting charge carrier densities with respect to the do...

This paper discerns key ideas and themes of the possibility of growing Ni doped ZnO nanoparticles by electrochemical method. The purpose is to study the growth mechanism and to optimize the parameters of this method. Upon successful synthesizing the samples, they were characterized using various techniques. XRD, SEM, FTIR, photoluminescence spectroscopy together with the measured optical parame...

In this work, we report on the effects of doping SnO2 nanoparticles with Zn 2+ ions. A series of ~23nm sized Sn1xZnxO2 crystallite samples with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.18 were synthesized using a forced hydrolysis method. Increasing dopant concentration caused systematic changes in the crystallite size, oxidation state of Sn, visible emission and band gap of SnO2 nanoparticles. X-ray Diffraction (XRD) studie...

We report low energy electronic Raman scattering from Ni-substituted Y Ba2Cu3O6.95 single crystals with Tc ranging from 92.5 K to 78 K. The fully symmetrical A1g channel and the B1g channel which is sensitive to the dx2−y2 gap maximum have been explored. The energy of the B1g pair-breaking peak remains constant under Ni doping while the energy of the A1g peak scales with Tc (EA1g/Tc = 5). Our d...

Superconductivity has been explored in single crystals of the Ni-doped FeAs-compound SrFe2−xNixAs2 grown by self-flux solution method. The antiferromagnetic order associated with the magnetostructural transition of the parent compound SrFe2As2 is gradually suppressed with increasing Ni concentration x and bulk-phase superconductivity with full diamagnetic screening is induced near the optimal d...

A simple one-step method based on the sputtering deposition of Ni nanoparticles (NP) has been developed for the production of magnetic biocatalysts, avoiding the complications and drawbacks of methods based on chemical functionalisation or coating of magnetic NP. This new technique provided high levels of recovery, reusability and catalytic activity for the lipase-Ni biocatalyst.

Hollow Ru nanoparticles with ~14 nm diameter and ~2 nm shell thickness are reported for the first time, by removal of Ni from the delicately designed Ni@Ru core@shell NPs. Such hollow Ru NPs exhibit enhanced catalytic activity in the dehydrogenation of ammonia borane with respect to solid ones.

The present research systematically investigated, for the first time, the transformation of sodium bicarbonate and CO2 into sodium formate over a series of Ni based metal nanoparticles (NPs). Ni NPs and eight NiM (M stands for a second metal) NPs were prepared by a facile wet chemical process and then their catalytic performance were evaluated in sodium bicarbonate hydrogenation. Bimetallic NiP...
