INTRODUCTION The ideal vaginoplasty method should promote good cosmetic and functional results with low morbidity. We describe a new technique for congenital vaginal agenesis using a full-thickness perforated skin graft. MATERIALS AND METHODS We report an 18 year old patient with vaginal agenesis (Morris syndrome) that undergone a modified version of McIndoe vaginoplasty. Patient is set in a ...

Polymer blend lithography (PBL) is a spin-coating-based technique that makes use of the purely lateral phase separation between two immiscible polymers to fabricate large area nanoscale patterns. In our earlier work (Huang et al. 2012), PBL was demonstrated for the fabrication of patterned self-assembled monolayers. Here, we report a new method based on the technique of polymer blend lithograph...

When vermiform appendix is found in the inguinal hernial sac, the condition is called Amyand's hernia (AH). Appendix in hernial sac can be normal, inflamed or perforated. It can present as complicated hernia or acute scrotum. We present a case of Amyand's hernia in a 25-day-old male who presented with an obstructed hernia having perforated appendix in the hernial sac.

We successfully rescued a patient whose coronary artery perforated following implantation of a drug-eluting stent (DES), by deploying a stent-graft in symptomatic myocardial bridging. Our case demonstrated that coronary perforation could be handled without difficulty when perforated myocardial bridging is confined to the interventricular groove.

We discuss several models for a flash-heat experiment in homogeneous isotropic media. We use these to investigate the use of homogenization techniques in approximating models for interrogation via flash-heating in porous materials. We represent porous materials as both randomly perforated domains and periodically perforated domains.

Acute perforated appendicitis is described as a rare clinical entity in 20 days old male neonate presented clinically with features suggestive of peritonitis. Surgical exploration revealed perforated appendix with free fluid in peritoneal cavity. Appendectomy with general supportive measures resulted in a satisfactory recovery. Authors review their experience with this rare entity along with pe...

The absorption characteristics of porous absorbers in combination with perforated facings was investigated. The effect of the hole size, hole pattern and open area ratio were examined. The absorption coefficients for an absorber of uniform cross-section were compared to those for an absorber with a tapered cross-section for various volumes of absorbent and different perforated facings.

IMPORTANCE At the turn of the 21st century, studies evaluating the change in incidence of appendicitis over time have reported inconsistent findings. OBJECTIVES We compared the differences in the incidence of appendicitis derived from a pathology registry versus an administrative database in order to validate coding in administrative databases and establish temporal trends in the incidence of...
