We consider small random perturbations of expanding and piecewise expanding maps and prove the robustness of their invariant densities and rates of mixing. We do this by proving some simple lemmas about the robustness of the spectra of certain operators. These abstract results are then applied to the Perron-Frobenius operators of the models in question. Introduction Let f : M → M be a dynamical...

The generalized spectral decomposition of the Frobenius-Perron operator of the tent map with varying height is determined at the band-splitting points. The decomposition includes both decay onto the attracting set and the approach to the asymptotically periodic state on the attractor. Explicit compact expressions for the polynomial eigenstates are obtained using algebraic techniques. (c) 1998 A...

Poles of the Ihara zeta function associated with a finite graph are described by graph-theoretic quantities. Elementary proofs based on the notions of oriented line graphs, Perron-Frobenius operators, and discrete Laplacians are provided for Bass’s theorem on the determinant expression of the zeta function and Hashimoto’s theorems on the pole at u = 1.

Let $T$ denote a positive operator with spectral radius $1$ on, say, an $L^p$-space. A classical result in infinite dimensional Perron--Frobenius theory says that, if is irreducible and power bounded, then its peripheral point spectrum either empty or subgroup of the unit circle. In this note we show that analogous assertion for entire fails. More precisely, every finite union $U$ subgroups c...

We use a recently found parametrization of the solutions of the inverse Frobenius-Perron problem within the class of complete unimodal maps to develop a Monte-Carlo approach for the construction of one-dimensional chaotic dynamical laws with given statistical properties, i.e. invariant density and autocorrelation function. A variety of different examples are presented to demonstrate the power o...

Using the Perron-Frobenius operator we establish a new functional central limit theorem result for non-invertible measure preserving maps that are not necessarily ergodic. We apply the result to asymptotically periodic transformations and give an extensive specific example using the tent map.

We describe a computational method of approximating the \physical" or Sinai-Bowen-Ruelle measure of an Anosov system in two dimensions. The approximation may either be viewed as a xed point of an approximate Perron-Frobenius operator or as an invariant measure of a randomly perturbed system.

I illustrate a uniied approach to the study of the decay of correlations in hyperbolic dynamical systems. The decay of correlations or, alternatively, the rate of approach of some initial distribution to an invariant one, is a widely studied problem in dynamical systems as well as in other elds. Although a full understanding is not yet available, some notable results have been obtained in the c...

We give a new proof of the well known Wedderburn's little theorem (1905) that a finite‎ ‎division ring is commutative‎. ‎We apply the concept of Frobenius kernel in Frobenius representation theorem in finite group‎ ‎theory to build a proof‎.
