The interplay between strong light-matter interactions and charge doping represents an important frontier in the pursuit of exotic many-body physics optoelectronics. Here, we consider a simplified model two-dimensional semiconductor embedded microcavity, where electrons holes are strongly screened, allowing us to develop diagrammatic formalism for this system with analytic expression exciton-po...

We report that phonon-polaritonic thin films with a periodic array of subwavelength holes allow nearcomplete transmission in the polariton gap where a homogeneous film completely suppresses transmission. We find that both propagating modes inside the subwavelength holes and surface resonances on the film interfaces play a crucial role in the transmission behavior. In the frequency range where b...

The coupled non–radiative excitations of the electromagnetic field and pha-sons in films with a quasi one–dimensional charge density wave (CDW) are evaluated for P–polarization and CDW conducting axis inside the film. The prominent features are two surface phason–polariton branches extending from the CDW pinning frequency to the frequency of the longitudinal optical phason. These surface phason...

Due to their extraordinary quality factor and extreme sensitivity to surface perturbations, Bloch surface waves (BSW) have been widely investigated for sensing applications so far. Over the last few years, on-chip control of optical signals through BSW has experienced a rapidly-expanding interest in the scientific community, attesting to BSW’s position at the forefront towards on-chip optical o...

We study analytically defect polariton states in Bragg multiple quantum well structures and defect-induced changes in transmission and reflection spectra. Defect layers can differ from the host layers in three ways: exciton-light coupling strength, exciton resonance frequency, and interwell spacing. We show that a single defect leads to two local polariton modes in the photonic band gap. These ...

In a standard semiconductor laser, electrons and holes recombine via stimulated emission to emit coherent light, in a process that is far from thermal equilibrium. Exciton-polariton condensates-sharing the same basic device structure as a semiconductor laser, consisting of quantum wells coupled to a microcavity-have been investigated primarily at densities far below the Mott density for signatu...

Exciton–polariton solitons are nonlinear quasiparticles composed of exciton–photon bound states due to the interaction light with matter. In semiconductor micro-cavity systems, such as micro and nanowires, polaritons characterized by a negative mass which, combined repulsive exciton–exciton interaction, leads generation bright polariton solitons. this work, we investigate dynamics exciton–polar...
