Using videomicroscopy imaging, we demonstrate the existence of a short-ranged equilibrium attraction between heavy silica colloids diffusing on soft surfaces of cross-linked polymer gels. The intercolloid potential can be tuned by changing the gel stiffness or by coating the colloids with a polymer layer. On sufficiently soft substrates, the interaction induced by the polymer matrix leads to la...

in this paper , the effect of curing time and temperature as well as various primers on durability of high density polyethylene on plain carbon steel have been investigated. the aim is to increase adhesion, improve durability and also to produce a defect-free in order to improve the corrosion resistance of steel substrate. for this purpose, after surface preparation and applying a primer (zinc ...

Adding a small amount of polymers can achieve significant drag reduction effects. However, for external flows, the common homogeneous mixing and diffusing injection methods are not feasible. As an alternative, present work developed novel water-soluble polymer composite coating. The coating made use film-forming property polyvinyl alcohol with polyethyleneoxide (PEO, well-known polymer) incorpo...

This manuscript describes the versatile fabrication and characterization of a novel composite membrane that consists of a porous alumina support, a 100 nm thick nanoporous gold coating, and a selective poly(5-(perfluorohexyl)norbornene) (pNBF6) polymer that can be grown exclusively from the nanoporous gold or throughout the membrane. Integration of the three materials is achieved by means of si...

A series of oligofluorenes was synthesized and used as a SWNT selecting template to study the chain length effect on SWNTs dispersions in toluene. The octamer exhibits the same selectivity as the corresponding polymer. Nevertheless, SWNT/oligomer complexes are unstable, which allows fast exchange of the oligomer with a coating polymer.

Background and Aim: This study aimed to assess the effect of finishing and polishing time, technique and surface coating on microleakage of encapsulated restorative resin modified glass ionomer (RMGI). Materials and Methods: In this in vitro study, 40 freshly extracted human premolars were selected. Two standard class V cavities were prepared on the buccal and lingual surfaces of each tooth. T...

In this experiment the effect of edible coating (apricot gum) was used to extend the shelf life of apple slices. The edible coating was applied at different concentrations i.e. 0.5, 1, 2 and 3%. Physicochemical characteristics of edible coated apple slices were analyzed at different time intervals. The analysis was carried out for 12 days with an interval of 4 days. Results showed that the trea...

Intrinsically conducting polymers (ICPs) have been considered for use in various applica‐ tions. One of the most important applications of these materials which are attracting consid‐ erable attention in the most recent times is in corrosion protection of oxidizable metals [1]. The effective use of conducting polymers for corrosion protection of metals can be carried out by different methods; l...

Electron field emission measurements have been made on multiwall arc discharge carbon nanotubes embedded in a conjugated polymer host. Electron emission at low nanotube content is observed and attributed to an enhancement of the applied electric field at the polymer/nanotube/vacuum interface where the electron supply through the film is attributed to fluctuation induced tunneling in a disordere...

introduction: any decrease in friction between orthodontic wire and bracket can accelerate tooth movement in the sliding technique and result in better control of anchorage. the present study was carried out to decrease this friction by coating of zinc oxide nanoparticles (zno) on orthodontic wires and porcelain brackets. materials and methods: in this in vitro study, a combination of 120 0.019...
