Phenomenological and theoretical aspects of fragmentation for elementary particles (resp. nuclei) are discussed. It is shown that some concepts of classical fragmentation remain relevant in a microscopic framework, exhibiting non-trivial properties of quantum relativistic field theory (resp. lattice percolation).

We reconsider several issues related to fragmentation and reassembly in IP. We rst reconsider reassembly. We describe a simple expected case optimization that improves reassembly performance to 38 instructions per fragment if the fragments arrive in FIFO order (the same assumption made in header prediction) which has been implemented in the NetBSD kernel. Next, we introduce the new idea of Grac...

We propose a modeling of the problem of privacy-compliant data publishing that captures confidentiality constraints on one side and visibility requirements on the other side. Confidentiality constraints express the fact that some attributes, or associations among them, are sensitive and cannot be released. Visibility requirements express requests for views over data that should be provided. We ...

The multiplicity distributions for individual fragment Z values in nuclear multifragmentation are binomial. The extracted maximum value of the multiplicity, mZ , is found to depend on Z according to mZ = Z0/Z, where Z0 is the source size. This is shown to be a strong indication of statistical coverage of fragmentation phase space. The inferred source sizes coincide with those extracted from the...

Almost twenty years ago Baudrillard (1988, p 95) warned, ‘We live in a universe where there is more and more information and less and less meaning’. Since this unheeded warning, we have produced a far greater mass of information, further constraining our inner search for meaning. Many of us have become estranged from ourselves and the natural world we inhabit. As well, concepts of text, author ...
