quinolines, an important class of potentially bioactive compounds, have been synthesized by treatment of o-aminoarylketones and carbonyl compounds utilizing niobium (v) chloride / polyethylenglycole(nbcl5.peg) and niobium(v)chloride (nbcl5) as available and inexpensive catalysts. the quinoline derivatives were prepared in glycerol, an excellent solvent in terms of environmental impact, with hig...

The facile and clean oxidative biaryl coupling reaction of thiophenes and pyrroles has been achieved using the recyclable hypervalent iodine(III) reagents having adamantane or methane structures. These iodine(III) reagents could be recovered from the reaction mixtures by a simple solid-liquid separation, i.e., filtration.

In this study, we describe a highly selective etherification procedure of unprotected morroniside catalyzed by molecular iodine in acetone. The etherification reaction furnished 7-O-alkyl ether derivatives in reasonable yields within few hours under neutral conditions. Studies of the obtained products on cytotoxicity activity in colon 26-L5 cell line were examined. Among the tested compounds, 7...

A domino reaction has been developed for the synthesis of oxygen bridged bicyclic ethers through the coupling of 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)cyclohex-3-enols with aldehydes in the presence of 10 mol% of molecular iodine in dichloromethane at 25 °C. This method is highly diastereoselective affording the corresponding bicyclic ethers, i.e. octahydro-4a,7-epoxyisochromenes in good yields with high selectivi...

The Biginelli reaction was combined with the Passerini reaction for the first time in a sequential multicomponent tandem reaction approach. After evaluation of all possible linker components and a suitable solvent system, highly functionalized dihydropyrimidone-α-acyloxycarboxamide compounds were obtained in good to excellent yields. In a first reaction step, different 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H...

The correlation between chemical structure and dynamics has been explored in a series of molecules with increasing structural complexity in order to investigate its influence on bond cleavage reaction times in a photodissociation event. Femtosecond time-resolved velocity map imaging spectroscopy reveals specificity of the ultrafast carbon-iodine (C-I) bond breakage for a series of linear (unbra...

hydrogenation of oils might be considered as the largest reaction in the edible oil industry. the reaction consists of the addition of hydrogen at the double bounds of fatty acids. although for some reasons this might be considered a desirable reaction but for some others it might create problems in the food and nutrition chain circle due to the formation of saturated and trans fatty acids. soy...

An effective one-pot synthesis of quinolines bearing diverse C3-piperazinyl functions was developed by using a modified Friedländer's protocol. The method not only enables the synthesis of our early reported c-Met inhibitor on a large scale, but also provides a way to generate novel multi-substituted quinolines for further structure-activity relationship (SAR) study.

correlations between carcinogenicity and several molecular orbital characteristics were found. All correlations between molecular orbital properties and carcinogenicity were modified by one or more of the following structural factors: (a) the absence of a 4-nitro group, (b) the absence of a 1-oxide group, or (c) the presence of bulky substituents in position 2 or 3 of the quinoline ring. Any of...
