Investment in health care companies can be a good bet over the long term for a number of reasons, particularly in certain sectors within health care. Investment in other health care sectors is much riskier. This article briefly overviews investment considerations for several different sectors within health care.

Although mutations in cardiac sodium and potassium channel genes are associated with congenital long QT syndrome (LQTS), a "modifier" role of the sympathetic nervous system was proposed to explain the distinct severity of the disease. We evaluated cardiac sympathetic innervation using [11C]hydroxyephedrine ([11C]HED) and positron emission tomography (PET) in genotyped LQTS patients. H215O and [...

This paper uncovers a counter-intuitive effect of international trade on female labor shares: whenever trade expands sectors intensive in female labor, female labor shares drop. When capital complements female labor more than male labor, the following mechanism operates: Expansions of sectors intensive in female labor come along with contractions of sectors intensive in male labor. Thus, male l...

We examine the distribution of hours of work across 2-digit industrial sectors in OECD countries. We find large disparities when sectors are divided into three types: health and social work, a group that produces goods with home substitutes and all others. We attribute the disparities to the different tax and subsidy policies that countries follow, in a nested CES preference structure with home...

Fisheries regulations driven by environmental concerns would not only directly affect fisheries sectors but also tend to indirectly influence other sectors through intersectoral input–output linkages. This paper examines both backward and forward linkages of Hawaii’s fisheries sectors to the rest of the economy, and based on this evaluates the potential economic impacts of longline fishing regu...

Lattice numerical simulations for planar closed random walks and their winding sectors are presented. The frontiers of the random walks and of their winding sectors have a Hausdorff dimension dH = 4/3. However, when properly defined by taking into account the inner 0-winding sectors, the frontiers of the random walks have a Hausdorff dimension dH ≈ 1.77.

It has recently been pointed out that the mirror or twin Higgs model is more technically natural than the standard model, thus alleviating the “little” hierarchy problem. In this paper we generalise the analysis to models with an arbitrary number of isomorphic standard model sectors, and demonstrate that technical naturalness increases with the number of additional sectors. We consider two kind...

1 This paper examines the impact of trade liberalization on poverty reduction in Bangladesh by using Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) analysis. By using CGE analysis we see that WTO and SAFTA have a positive impact of increasing in household welfare in Bangladesh through increasing in household consumption in Bangladesh. The major findings of two simulation results show that under the compl...

(n = 704 066). Cumulative proportions for the total number of sectors and the total population contained within those sectors were also calculated. On the basis of these results, if 20% of the most deprived sectors in Scotland (1 205 833/4 998 202 (24%) of the population) were targeted, 41% of unemployed people and 34% of low income households would be “captured” (figure). By targeting 254 post...

in the market for factors of production usually the equilibrium will be stablished on the based of the equality between the value of marginal products of output and their relative price level. on the other hand the value of marginal product of output is a function of observed rate productivity of output and the market capacity of factors of production. thus the fluctuation in the rate of produc...
