Zinc oxide nanorods were synthesized directly on a silicon microcantilever and converted into a nanoporous ZIF-8 film via a solvothermal reaction. The simultaneous measurements of the resonance frequency and deflection of the cantilever revealed that the adsorption of alcohol vapors induced a structural change in the ZIF-8 framework.

The encapsulation of polyoxometalates within the large pores of the Zr(iv) biphenyldicarboxylate UiO-67 metal-organic framework has been achieved, for the first time, by direct solvothermal synthesis. The resulting POM@UiO-67 composite materials were fully characterized by XRPD, IR, MAS NMR, N2 porosimetry measurements and cyclic voltammetry.

A facile, one-pot solvothermal method is developed to synthesize MoS2 nanoflowers (MoS2NFs) coated on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) paper. The resulting MoS2NF/rGO paper serves as a freestanding, flexible and durable working electrode for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), exhibiting an overpotential lowered to -0.19 V with a Tafel slope of ∼95 mV per decade.
