This research demonstrates a new approach that uses patterns of eye motion for object selection in an eye tracking interface. The analysis of eye motion on the pattern level can deliver three values to an eye tracking interface: selection speed, reliability, and a more complete understanding of user attention. Current eye tracking interfaces use fixation as a means of target acquisition and/or ...

Here, we describe an automated optical method for tracking animal behavior in both head-fixed and freely moving animals, in real time and offline. It takes advantage of an off-the-shelf camera system, the Pixy camera, designed as a fast vision sensor for robotics that uses a color-based filtering algorithm at 50 Hz to track objects. Using customized software, we demonstrate the versatility of o...

The high pace rise in vehicle counts, traffic density, and security concerns, a potential system for traffic surveillance, vehicle monitoring and control has become an inevitable need to facilitate intelligent transportation system (ITS). Although, numerous approaches have been proposed for moving vehicle detection and tracking, still the optimization needs can’t be ignored. In this paper, a ro...

The human limbs are paired organs, each capable of independent movement. Functional laterality is found in the upper limbs when writing letters or throwing a ball, etc. This study aimed to examine the effects of differences in manipulation leg (ML), defined as the leg used when kicking a ball and supporting leg (SL), as the contralateral leg, and moving target speed on a visual tracking test us...

This paper presents an algorithm to deploy a team of free guards equipped with omni-directional cameras for tracking a bounded speed intruder inside a simply-connected polygonal environment. The proposed algorithm partitions the environment into smaller polygons, and assigns a guard to each partition so that the intruder is visible to at least one guard at all times. Based on the concept of dyn...

A novel technique for tracking arbitrary colored objects in complex environments is proposed in this paper. Active search and prediction of search area is used for improving speed. The system is capable of accurately tracking a t the rate of around 10 frames per second without any special hardware.

In this paper, we analyze performance characteristics of four prior one-way constraint maintenance implementation techniques, emphasizing how these characteristics influence responsiveness, and introduce a lazy optimization technique called culprit tracking. While culprit tracking is not a panacea in terms of raw speed, its performance characteristics significantly improve the consistency of re...

This paper demonstrates how CUDA-capable Graphics Processor Unit can be effectively used to accelerate a tracking algorithm based on adaptive appearance models. The object tracking is achieved by particle swarm optimization algorithm. Experimental results show that the GPU implementation of the algorithm exhibits a more than 40-fold speed-up over the CPU implementation.
