BACKGROUND Congenital absence of the vas deferens is an important cause of obstructive azoospermia, and the lack of an imaging diagnostic test is a critical problem. The aim of this study is to discuss the use of ultrasonography in congenital absence of vas deferens, including dysplasia of the epididymis and the seminal vesical. MATERIAL AND METHODS Five fresh spermatic cord specimens were dete...

Inguinal orchiopexy is a common operation performed for undescended testis. Several surgical techniques have been described to mobilize the spermatic cord and optimize the position of the testis in the scrotum. We demonstrate a novel adjunct surgical maneuver which includes stripping the distal peritoneal investments of the spermatic cord to achieve additional length in cases when dependent scr...

BACKGROUND Spermatic cord neoplasms are a rare tumor entity and, moreover, of benign behavior. Malignant tumors of the spermatic cord are mostly of mesenchymal origin. We present the unusual case of a giant malignant mesenchymoma of the spermatic cord with bidirectional differentiation into a liposarcoma and a leiomyosarcoma. CASE REPORT A 84-year-old male patient presented with a scrotal mas...

An extratesticular scrotal epidermoid cyst is a relatively very rare condition, and an epidermoid cyst arising from the spermatic cord area is extremely rare. We report a case of multiple epidermoid cysts arising from the extratesticular scrotum, spermatic cord, and lower extremities. To our best knowledge, concomitant occurrence of these lesions has not been reported previously in the literature.

BACKGROUND Scrotal blunt trauma may result in injuries, such as testicular rupture, dislocation, torsion, hematoma, spermatic cord injury or contusion, and epididymal, scrotal, and urethral injuries. Ultrasonography (US) has a crucial role in the evaluation of those kinds of pathologies. Early diagnosis of testicular rupture may lead to the salvaging of the testicle by prompt surgical explorati...

Phosphatidylcholine is the main phospholipid present in cell membranes and in lipoproteins, and can interfere with various biological processes. This lipid also has antioxidant activity, and protects against damage caused by free radicals under conditions of ischemia/reperfusion. Therefore, the present study was designed to evaluate toxicogenetic damage caused by twisting of the spermatic cord ...

In the present note, we discuss certain observations made by the author in February 2009 concerning strongly torsion-free profinite groups [cf. [Mzk2], Definition 1.1, (iii)]. These observations grew out of e-mail correspondences between the author, Akio Tamagawa, and Marco Boggi, as well as oral discussions between the author and Akio Tamagawa. Definition 1. Let G be a profinite group. (i) We ...
